ALBANY, OH — Phil and Sandy, a couple from Albany, are celebrating a $50,000 win after playing the Ohio Lottery’s 50th Anniversary scratch-off game.
Phil purchased the winning ticket at the Little General Store on Washington Road, deciding to play a few extra tickets after initially winning $100. He discovered the $50,000 prize after scratching the ticket at home following lunch with Sandy.
The couple, who confirmed their win using the Ohio Lottery mobile app, will take home approximately $36,000 after mandatory state and federal taxes.
Phil and Sandy plan to use their winnings to pay off their home equity line of credit and enjoy their newfound financial freedom.
The 50th Anniversary scratch-off offers a top prize of $600,000 a year for 25 years, with two top prizes still available as of Dec. 26.
