LOS ANGELES, CA — Edwin Castro, the winner of the record-breaking $2 billion Powerball jackpot, has lost his $3.8 million Malibu mansion to the raging Palisades Fire, which has devastated Los Angeles County since Tuesday.
The beachfront home, purchased by Castro in 2023 after his historic lottery win, was one of more than 10,000 homes and structures consumed by the fire. The three-bedroom, two-bath property sat on Big Rock Beach, offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, but now lies in ruins as the fire continues to ravage the area.
The destruction of Castro’s home reflects the widespread devastation along Big Rock Beach, where an entire stretch of coastline properties was leveled by the blaze. What was once a picturesque neighborhood has been reduced to rubble, leaving residents with little more than ash and debris.
CAL FIRE continues to provide critical updates for residents, including evacuation orders, road closures, and safety precautions, and urges the public to stay informed by visiting their official website.
