Newark Police Searching for French Press Thief, Coffee Crook

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a woman suspected of shoplifting items from a Starbucks on Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:28 a.m. on January 20, 2025. According to police, the suspect, described as a Black female, entered the Starbucks and placed several items — including a coffee cup, a French press, and a large plastic cup — into a silver bag before leaving without paying.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect inside the store, and police have released her image in an effort to identify her.
