BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A 44-year-old man was robbed by a group of individuals armed with a baseball bat, a knife, and pieces of lumber while aboard a southbound “F” train early Tuesday morning, according to police.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. as the train was nearing the 18th Avenue subway station in Bensonhurst. Police said the group confronted the victim, displayed the weapons, and forcibly took his cellphone.
The F Train is the same line where 57-year-old Toms River, New Jersey resident Debrina Kawam, was set on fire and murdered by an illegal migrant.
The assailants then pushed the victim out of the subway car onto the platform at the 18th Avenue station before remaining on the southbound train to an unknown destination. The victim was not injured during the robbery, authorities said.
The suspects remain unidentified, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday. The NYPD is reviewing surveillance footage from the subway system as part of the investigation.
