Violent crime spree suspect arrested after detectives recover firearm in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man accused of carrying out multiple violent crimes in Southeast D.C. has been arrested, and a firearm has been recovered, officials announced Wednesday.

The investigation began after a shooting on Jan. 25 in the 5400 block of B Street SE, where a man was found with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Feb. 3, detectives arrested 26-year-old Daqwan Baker in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.

Authorities linked Baker to another shooting on Jan. 1 in the 5300 block of Astor Place SE, where no injuries were reported. He now faces an additional charge of Endangerment with a Firearm.
