Teen arrested for felony assault after throwing bleach at classmate at Brandywine High

WILMINGTON, Del. – A 17-year-old student was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly throwing bleach in the face of a 16-year-old classmate during an argument at Brandywine High School, according to Delaware State Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:36 a.m. at the school on Foulk Road. A school resource officer witnessed the 17-year-old student splash an unknown liquid from a plastic bottle onto the victim’s face. School staff and the officer intervened immediately, separating the students and securing the bottle.

An investigation determined the liquid was bleach. The 16-year-old student was evaluated by the school nurse. Authorities have not reported any serious injuries.

The suspect was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and offensive touching. The teen was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and released to a guardian.
