Traffic Cop Assaulted in New York City, Suspect Photos Released

A uniformed NYPD agent was assaulted in broad daylight as the suspect sped off through Greenwich Village.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a traffic enforcement agent in Greenwich Village on Friday afternoon before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on March 21 in front of 99 7th Avenue South, within the 6th Precinct, according to the New York City Police Department.

A 56-year-old NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agent was on duty and in uniform when an unidentified individual approached and punched him in the face.

The suspect fled southbound on 7th Avenue South in a vehicle with New York license plate 92862MM.

The agent sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the suspect, and released surveillance media in connection with the case.
