Time travel meets scratch-offs in new Maryland Lottery game

by Local News Report

BALTIMORE, MD — The Maryland Lottery is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future with a movie-themed scratch-off ticket that blends nostalgia with big prize potential, including seven $10,000 top prizes and a second-chance promotion based on iconic numbers from the film.

The $2 Back to the Future-inspired ticket features references to the 1985 classic, including a “1955” symbol and a “Gigawatt”-themed Bonus. Players who don’t win instantly can enter their tickets into My Lottery Rewards for a chance at second-chance prizes tied to significant dates and numbers from the movie franchise.

The second-chance promotion runs through July 14 and includes five scheduled drawings on April 22, May 13, June 3, June 24, and July 15. Prizes include $8,888 (relating to the Time Machine’s 88 mph speed), $2,025 (marking the film’s 40th anniversary in 2025), $2,015 (the year Marty and Doc visit in the future), and $1,955 (the year Marty travels back to in the original film).

In addition to the themed ticket, three other scratch-off games launched on March 25. The $5 Mosaic Money ticket offers 15 chances to win with a top prize of $50,000. The $10 Bingo X10, now in its eighth edition, gives bingo fans a shot at $100,000. Also released was the $10 More Money scratch-off, featuring 10 games per ticket, 40 chances to win, and a $150,000 top prize.

All tickets are available at Lottery retailers statewide.
