STAFFORD, VA — A Stafford man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly attacking his roommate with a handsaw during a drunken altercation, authorities said.

Michael Jones, 37, was taken into custody following a disturbance on Cabell Road around 7:15 p.m., according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded after receiving reports of an intoxicated individual threatening others with a saw.

When Deputy K.W. Suter arrived at the scene, Jones was no longer armed with the saw but was allegedly holding a can of Twisted Tea and behaving belligerently. He was quickly detained.

The victim told deputies the confrontation escalated from a verbal argument to an assault involving a handsaw. Authorities confirmed the victim suffered minor injuries.

Jones now faces charges of malicious wounding, assault and battery, and public intoxication. He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.
