LINDEN, NJ — More than 2,800 customers in Linden lost power overnight following a severe storm, according to a statement from the Linden Police Department early Monday.

PSE&G crews are actively working to restore electricity and currently estimate full service will be back by 10:30 a.m. City officials are in ongoing communication with the utility provider to monitor progress.

“City Officials are in direct contact with PSE&G Officials, and updates will be provided as they become available,” the department posted on its official Facebook page.

Residents are urged not to call 911 for power outage reports. Instead, they should report outages by texting “OUT” to PSE&G at 47734 or visit the utility’s outage center at pseg.com.

The police emphasized that 911 should be reserved strictly for emergencies.
