FAIR LAWN, NJ — A driver narrowly avoided serious injury Wednesday afternoon after a black Lexus was struck by an NJ Transit express train at the Fair Lawn Avenue railroad crossing, authorities said.

According to the Fair Lawn Police Department, the vehicle was on the tracks when the train, en route to Hoboken, collided with it. The driver was able to escape the vehicle before the impact and was transported to a local hospital by Bergen County EMS for evaluation.

Emergency response teams from multiple agencies—including Fair Lawn Fire Companies 1, 2, and 3, Fair Lawn Rescue, and NJ Transit Police—arrived at the scene to assist with the incident and ensure the area was secured.
