Man assaulted and knocked unconscious during early morning attack in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 29-year-old man was hospitalized after being assaulted and rendered unconscious by two unidentified men near 81st Street and Northern Boulevard early Saturday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 4:20 a.m., when the victim was approached from behind by one of the suspects who placed his arm around the victim’s neck. A second man then began striking the victim repeatedly, according to the NYPD.

Once the victim lost consciousness, both attackers continued to hit him before fleeing the scene in a gray 2017 Ford Mustang. The direction of travel after the incident is unknown, authorities said.

Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was listed in stable condition with bruising to his body.

The motive behind the assault remains unclear, and police have not indicated whether anything was taken from the victim.

The NYPD released descriptions of the two suspects as they seek the public’s help in identifying them. The first individual is described as a male with a light complexion, last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

The second suspect is also a male with a light complexion and a beard. He was last seen wearing dark-framed eyeglasses, a white shirt, and black pants.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings and businesses as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the individuals involved to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.

The victim remained hospitalized Sunday but was expected to recover, according to officials.
