Teen threatened ex-girlfriend and her mother with loaded gun at the Jersey Shore

A 17-year-old male was arrested in Atlantic City after allegedly threatening two people and being found with a loaded, defaced handgun.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A 17-year-old male was arrested by Atlantic City Police after allegedly threatening to shoot his ex-girlfriend and her mother while in possession of a loaded handgun.

On Wednesday at approximately 4:17 p.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of Fairmount Avenue following reports of a male sitting in a vehicle and making threats with a firearm. According to police, the suspect had threatened to shoot both women.

Officer Kevin Puca located the vehicle and began speaking with the occupants, identified as the juvenile suspect and his mother. When officers asked the teen to exit the vehicle for further questioning, he became combative and resisted arrest.

Additional officers arrived on scene and assisted in taking the male into custody. A loaded handgun was recovered from underneath the suspect’s seat during a search of the vehicle, according to police.

Suspect charged with multiple weapons offenses

The 17-year-old, a resident of Atlantic City, has been charged with terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice.

The Atlantic City Police Department did not release the suspect’s name due to his age.
