WOODBURY, N.J. — A commercial vehicle struck a telephone pole and crashed into an occupied home Tuesday afternoon after the driver reportedly experienced a medical emergency, according to the Woodbury Police Department.
Police responded at 1:34 p.m. to the intersection of Woodbury-Glassboro Road and Fairview Avenue for a serious motor vehicle crash.
Initial reports indicated the vehicle was heading northbound when it hit a telephone pole at Fairview Avenue, then continued until colliding with a home near Stratford Avenue.
The residence was occupied at the time of the crash, and the individual inside was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Authorities believe the commercial vehicle’s driver may have suffered a medical emergency just prior to the incident.
“This remains an active investigation and emergency crews are still on scene,” the department stated in its official media release. Details about the condition of both the driver and the resident have not been released.

Woodbury-Glassboro Road has been closed between Elm Avenue and Chestnut Avenue for an extended period as crews respond to the scene. Multiple surrounding roads have also been shut down.
The police are urging motorists to avoid the area and expect significant delays. No charges have been announced and no names have been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
