BROOKLYN, NY — A 29-year-old man was shot in the leg inside the lobby of a Crown Heights apartment building Thursday evening, police said.
The shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. at 1400 Bergen Street, where the victim was approached by an unidentified man who pulled out a silver firearm and opened fire, striking the victim in the left leg, according to the NYPD.
The gunman fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Emergency responders arrived shortly after and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County. He was listed in stable condition.

Authorities described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion and medium build, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police searching for armed suspect
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Officers are reviewing nearby surveillance footage for leads.
The NYPD has not disclosed whether the suspect and the victim knew each other or if the shooting was targeted.
As of Friday, no updates have been provided on the victim’s condition beyond the initial hospital report. Authorities continue canvassing the area for witnesses.
