Mystery surrounds disappearance of 16-year-old girl in DC

Teen disappears from Maryland Avenue NE, sparking citywide search

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 16-year-old girl who was last seen on Maryland Avenue NE earlier this month has been reported missing, prompting an active search across the District.

Jasslyn Santos was last seen on Monday, May 5, around 4:12 p.m. in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue NE. Her disappearance was formally reported on Wednesday, May 14, after efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.

Santos is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. At the time she went missing, she was wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and gray sneakers.

The Youth and Family Engagement Division is handling the investigation. The teen is considered critically missing, and her case remains open as search efforts continue in Northeast and surrounding areas.
