INTERLACHEN, Fla. — A 61-year-old woman was arrested this week after being caught on camera removing mementos from graves at Etoniah Cemetery in Putnam County, according to authorities.
Katherine Taylor was charged with two counts of criminal mischief after relatives of the deceased reported that personal items had gone missing from graves in April. In response, the families installed cameras near the gravesites.
Footage reportedly showed Taylor holding a windchime taken from one grave while attempting to take another item. Deputies later confronted her at her residence, where several of the stolen items were discovered in her yard landscaping.
Taylor admitted to deputies that she had previously been caught taking objects from cemeteries. According to law enforcement records, charges were forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office in 2020 related to a similar theft at East Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.
She was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail. Taylor was released on a $5,000 bond.
