CLARKSBURG, Md. — A longtime Maryland Lottery player from Clarksburg is $250,000 richer after hitting big on five identical Pick 5 tickets played in the same drawing.
The Frederick County resident, who has been playing Maryland Lottery games since 1973, claimed his quarter-million-dollar prize on Monday after the May 31 drawing hit his chosen numbers: 39943. He purchased five tickets with that same combination, each worth $50,000.
He said he has been playing the same numbers for more than a year. The first three digits had caught his attention in a previous drawing, prompting him to stick with the combination.
The man has previously collected wins including $5,000 on Pick 5 and three $2,500 prizes on Cash4Life. This latest win, however, marks his largest payday yet.
He plans to bank the winnings and eventually put the money into his home.
The winning tickets were bought at Dash In on Urbana Pike in Frederick. The store will receive a $2,500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
