CAMDEN, N.J. — A Newark woman has pleaded guilty to robbing a Princeton bank at gunpoint and stealing more than $60,000, federal prosecutors announced Monday.
Ciara Brascom, 38, entered the guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Karen M. Williams in Camden federal court to one count of bank robbery.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the robbery occurred on July 28, 2024, when Brascom entered a Princeton bank and demanded money while brandishing what appeared to be a black handgun. During the encounter, she threatened to use the weapon if the bank’s alarm was triggered. She fled with approximately $60,500 in cash.
Brascom faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for October 6.
U.S. Attorney Alina Habba credited special agents from the FBI’s Newark Division, the Princeton Police Department, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for their roles in the investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard G. Shephard of the Criminal Division in Trenton.
