EAST HARTFORD, CT — A winning Cash5 ticket worth $100,000 was sold at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Main Street in East Hartford, lottery officials confirmed Wednesday.
The lucky ticket was purchased for Tuesday’s Cash5 drawing and correctly matched all five winning numbers. It was bought at Stop & Shop #631, located near the Glastonbury town line.
The Connecticut Lottery Corporation listed the win on its official website, marking the prize as claimed by a player from Glastonbury. The name of the winner has not been released as of Wednesday morning.
Cash5 is one of the Connecticut Lottery’s daily draw games. To win the top prize, a player must match all five drawn numbers, which are selected from a pool of 35. The game costs $1 per play.
Lottery winners in Connecticut are public by default, although they may take steps to claim through a trust to maintain privacy.
Connecticut Lottery notes growing Cash5 interest
This win is one of several large Cash5 prizes awarded in recent weeks across the state. In May, multiple six-figure winners were recorded in Bridgeport and Waterbury.
Stop & Shop is expected to receive a retailer bonus from the Connecticut Lottery for selling the winning ticket, though the amount has not yet been disclosed.
Cash5 drawings are held nightly at approximately 10:29 p.m. ET and are broadcast online and on select local TV stations.
