NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Newport News man has been arrested and charged in connection with the April 30 killing of a woman whose body was found in a home on Antrim Drive, police announced Monday.
David Anderson, 30, was arrested on June 2 and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Imani Parrish. Parrish was discovered unresponsive inside a residence in the 600 block of Antrim Drive just before 9 p.m. that evening.
Responding officers found Parrish not breathing. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. Police launched a homicide investigation based on the nature of her injuries. According to her family, Parrish’s body was located in a closet, wrapped in a bloody blanket, and they believe she was killed by someone she “really cared about.”
Anderson was identified as a suspect during the course of the investigation and taken into custody without incident. Authorities have not released information on a motive or the connection between Anderson and Parrish.
“Chief Drew would like to thank the detectives for their dedication, the community for their cooperation and the city’s investment in technology which aided this investigation,” the Newport News Police Department said in a statement.
