MORICHES, NY – Suffolk County homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old woman whose body was discovered Friday morning inside a car parked at the Tall Oaks apartment complex.
Police said they were called to the scene, located off Moriches-Middle Island Road, around 8:20 a.m. after a woman reported finding her daughter, Rebecca Roth, dead from a gunshot wound in a vehicle outside their residence.
Roth was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Authorities have not released details about the type of firearm used or how long she may have been in the vehicle before being discovered.
As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made and investigators have not disclosed any possible motive in the case.
