CLAYMONT, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an early morning armed carjacking that occurred Tuesday outside a Claymont area motel.
Troopers responded at approximately 2:35 a.m. to the Riverview Motel, located at 7811 Governor Printz Boulevard, for a report of a carjacking involving multiple suspects. According to investigators, the victim was walking to his vehicle in the motel’s parking lot when he saw 2 to 3 unknown male suspects attempting to enter his car.
The victim confronted the suspects, leading to a physical altercation during which two of the suspects displayed firearms. Police said the suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s car, heading toward Governor Printz Boulevard.
The victim suffered a minor injury and was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. No hospital transport was reported.
Authorities said the suspects are described as 2 to 3 unknown Black males wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance footage of the incident has not yet been released.
Detectives seek information as investigation continues
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the case. Detectives are asking anyone who may have information related to the carjacking to contact Detective R. Strecker at (302) 365-8413.

No arrests have been made as the investigation remains active.
