Fair Lawn student sworn in as Chief for a Day

David Parian’s appointment as Chief for a Day was part of a countywide program aimed at recognizing and inspiring local youth.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — The Fair Lawn Police Department hosted a special event Thursday, swearing in 14-year-old David Parian, a student from Memorial Middle School, as Chief for a Day.

The day began with an Oath of Office ceremony administered by Deputy Mayor Josh Reinitz and Acting Chief Joseph Dawicki, with support from the department’s Community Policing Unit. Parian officially took on his honorary role with enthusiasm.

The morning featured breakfast at Gotham City Diner in Fair Lawn, followed by a trip to the Bergen County Courthouse where Parian joined other honorary chiefs from across the county.

The event concluded with a formal Chiefs Ceremony and luncheon at The Space in Englewood, bringing together participants and supporters to celebrate the occasion.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office sponsored the event, with additional support from CJ Global and RideLBikes in Fair Lawn.
