COLUMBIA, Md. — A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with a shooting last month at the Owen Brown Village Center in Columbia, authorities announced.
On May 15, police responded to reports of gunfire in the busy retail and residential area. Investigators determined that after a verbal altercation, the suspect fired several rounds at a woman seated in her vehicle, striking it at least once.
No injuries were reported, and no other nearby property was hit by the gunfire.
Following a weeks-long investigation, police arrested the Columbia teen on June 11. A loaded handgun was recovered during a search of his residence.
He faces multiple charges, including assault, reckless endangerment, and weapons offenses.

The teen is being prosecuted as an adult due to the nature of the offenses. Police said the recovered firearm was illegally possessed.
The Owen Brown Village Center remained open during the incident and no lockdowns were reported. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name due to his age.
