HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. — Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced the results of a narcotics investigation that led to two arrests following a search warrant executed last Thursday.
On June 12, members of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, assisted by the Haverstraw Police Department and the Rockland County REACT team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Haverstraw. Law enforcement seized a white chunky substance containing cocaine weighing over one-half ounce, along with $2,306 in cash.
Following the search, authorities arrested Victor Esteban, 37, and Yohelina Camilo, 34. Both individuals were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, classified as class B felonies under New York State law.
“As the charged offenses are not qualifying bail offenses, they were released on their own recognizance following arraignment in the Town of Haverstraw Court,” the District Attorney’s Office stated.
Authorities did not disclose additional details about the investigation or whether further charges may be filed.
Ongoing investigation into narcotics activity
The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation by the Drug Task Force targeting narcotics sales in Rockland County. The District Attorney’s Office continues its focus on disrupting local drug trafficking operations through coordinated law enforcement efforts.
No injuries or incidents were reported during the execution of the search warrant. The seized evidence will be submitted for further forensic analysis as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court for future proceedings. The District Attorney’s Office has not released any information regarding legal representation for Esteban or Camilo.
The Rockland County REACT team, which participated in the operation, routinely assists local agencies in executing high-risk search warrants related to drug activity.
