BALTIMORE, Md. — A man suspected in an early morning armed carjacking was injured in a crash hours later Thursday while driving the stolen vehicle, according to Baltimore police.
The carjacking occurred around 5:14 a.m. in the 200 block of Washburn Avenue. A 49-year-old man told officers he was approached by an armed Black male who demanded his vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s Honda Civic.

At approximately 10:58 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving injuries at South Hanover and West Cromwell Street. When they arrived, they discovered the same Honda Civic had collided with a tractor-trailer. The male driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Firearm recovered from vehicle after crash
Police recovered a firearm from the crashed Honda. Charges are pending, and the suspect will be transported to Central Booking Intake Facility upon release from the hospital.
