BALTIMORE, Md. — A 23-year-old woman was injured Wednesday evening after being accidentally shot during a firearms training session in the city’s Southwest District.
Officers responded to the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue around 6:12 p.m. following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Investigators say the woman was participating in a firearms training course when the instructor discharged a weapon while demonstrating how to safely render it inoperable. The instructor was taken into custody at the scene.

Southwest District Shooting detectives are leading the investigation. Police have not released the instructor’s identity or said what charges may be filed.
