PHILADELPHIA — A man was hospitalized after being shot in the knee late Wednesday night in North Philadelphia, but has refused to provide details about the incident, police said.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 18, officers from the 39th District responded to reports of a male shot on the 2000 block of West Stella Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, described as heavily intoxicated, with a gunshot wound to his right knee.
He was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police said the man was uncooperative and did not offer any information regarding how or why the shooting occurred. No witnesses were located at the scene.
Shooting Investigation Group handling case
The case has been turned over to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group, which is continuing to probe the circumstances of the shooting.
No arrests have been made, and no weapon was recovered at the scene.
Authorities have not disclosed whether they believe the victim was targeted or if the shooting may have been accidental or self-inflicted.
