Off-duty FDNY EMS lieutenant busted for grand larceny in Manhattan

NEW YORK — An off-duty FDNY EMS lieutenant was arrested Tuesday morning in Lower Manhattan on grand larceny charges, according to the NYPD.

George Russo, 45, was taken into custody at approximately 8:30 a.m. within the confines of the 1st Precinct. Police said Russo is facing one count of grand larceny.

Russo is currently employed as a lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services division. Details regarding the nature of the alleged theft were not immediately released.

The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation.

FDNY confirmed Russo’s employment but did not comment further on the pending charges.
