Gunman fires shot in air before robbing man of $8K in jewelry on Avenue U

A 34-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night in Brooklyn after a masked assailant fired a round into the air and made off with thousands of dollars in jewelry.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. in front of 2109 Avenue U. The victim was approached by an unidentified individual who displayed a firearm and demanded his jewelry. When the victim hesitated, the gunman discharged a single shot into the air.

The assailant then forcibly removed approximately $8,300 worth of jewelry from the victim before fleeing westbound on Avenue U. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, gray shorts, black sneakers, and a blue surgical mask.

Police are continuing to investigate and are seeking information on the suspect’s whereabouts.
