WASHINGTON, DC — A fatal shooting in Southeast Washington claimed the life of a 61-year-old man on Friday afternoon, according to police.
Around 12:33 p.m. on November 8, officers from the Seventh District heard gunfire while patrolling in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue SE. Responding to the scene, they found Fred Morgan, a resident of Southeast DC, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Services transported Morgan to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
Police have not released information about potential suspects or motives, and the investigation remains ongoing as homicide detectives work to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
