Improperly Illuminated License Plates Leads to Arrest of 'Nervous' Driver on Gun Charge

FREDERICK, MD – A suspect who was pulled over for a routine traffic stop ended up being charged for possession of a stolen handgun.

On Sunday at approximately 3:30 am Officer Davies was on routine patrol in the area of Baughmans Lane and W. Patrick St. At this time, Officer Davies observed a vehicle having improperly illuminated registration plates.

“A subsequent traffic stop was initiated and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, officers located CDS and an extended 30-round magazine. At this time, officers observed the rear passenger, Keyon Williams to be trembling, sweating profusely and exhibiting further characteristics of being armed. A subsequent “terry frisk” was conducted of Williams resulting in the recovery of a stolen handgun, reported out of Philadelphia, PA,” police said in a statement.

Williams was placed under arrest for the appropriate handgun charges and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.
