Tampa, FL – A late-night breach at the office of U.S. Attorney Alina Habba left property damaged and investigators searching for an individual who fled the scene, according to Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
The attempt to confront Habba unfolded inside her workplace, though she was not injured.
Bondi said federal authorities will pursue the suspect using every legal tool available.
“I will not be intimidated by radical lunatics for doing my job,” Habba said today.
Key Points
- Property inside U.S. Attorney Alina Habba’s office was damaged before the suspect fled
- Attorney General Pamela Bondi said violence toward federal officers will not be tolerated
- Habba responded publicly, stating she will not be intimidated
Federal officials said the individual entered Habba’s office during the night and caused damage before escaping, prompting an immediate review of security measures and building access.
Bondi called the act part of a broader pattern of incidents targeting law-enforcement personnel and said the individual responsible will be located.
“Last night, an individual attempted to confront one of our U.S. Attorneys — my dear friend @USAttyHabba — destroyed property in her office, and then fled the scene. Thankfully, Alina is ok. Any violence or threats of violence against any federal officer will not be tolerated. Period. This is unfortunately becoming a trend as radicals continue to attack law enforcement agents around the country,” Bondi posted on X.
Habba addressed the incident on social media, saying she will not be intimidated by what she described as radical attempts to disrupt her work.
Federal response intensifies
Bondi said the Department remains focused on protecting prosecutors and agents as they carry out daily responsibilities. She said investigators are gathering evidence and identifying the sequence of events inside the office.
“We will find this person, and the individual will be brought to justice. Our federal prosecutors, agents, and law-enforcement partners put their lives on the line every day to protect the American people, and this Department will use every legal tool available to ensure their safety and hold violent offenders fully accountable,” Bondi continued.
Officials said they are reviewing interviews and material collected from the scene as the search for the suspect continues.
“This @FBI will lead the hunt against all who threaten our brave public servants like @USAttyHabba – zero tolerance for these acts of violence,” FBI Director Kash Patel said after the incident.
