Key Murphy Aide Involved in Federal Investigation Drops Out of Race

by Conservative Times August 26, 2023
By Conservative Times

Last week, we reported that Brendan Gill, a top aide for Governor Phil Murphy was running for office and that he was involved in an FBI investigation along with other key Murphy staffers.

Today, Gill announced he would no longer be running for a seat in the New Jersey assembly, just days after a bombshell report tying him to federal prosecution.

A report by Politico outlines a federal grand jury inquiry into the actions of high-level campaign staffers of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

According to Politico, a 2020 grand jury subpoena has revealed that federal prosecutors are seeking emails and text messages related to two key individuals from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s 2017 gubernatorial campaign, as well as a notable lobbying and communications firm.

Among those under investigation is Murphy’s former campaign manager, Brendan Gill, who currently serves as an Essex County commissioner and was considering a run for state Assembly.

The subpoena, covering the period from January 1, 2017, to the February 2020 date of the document, encompasses a significant portion of Murphy’s first gubernatorial campaign as well as the initial half of his first term in office.

A second Murphy campaign aide, Adam Alonso, was also cited in the report.

Gill also served as campaign manager for New Jersey Senator Cory Booker. He currently serves on the Essex County Board of Commissioners.

Senator Vin Gopal Says Whale Deaths are a Right Wing Conspiracy Theory

by Phil Stilton August 26, 2023
By Phil Stilton

MONMOUTH BEACH, NJ – New Jersey Democrat Senator Vin Gopal, a key ally in New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s mission to build wind turbines from Cape May to Sandy Hook said conspiracy theorists are linking a massive increase in whale deaths to offshore wind energy.

When asked during a news 12 interview, Gopal, who is also very active politically in Ocean County too, rejected the idea that sonar mapping could be linked to a massive kill-off of whales and dolphins at the Jersey Shore in 2023.

When asked if the offshore sonar mapping is responsible for the die off, Gopal was firm.

“No, it is not,” he said.

“We get a lot of misinformation that it’s killing dolphins and whales,” Gopal said shortly after a dead whale washed up on the beach in his hometown recently. “That’s not true, but you have conspiracy theorists saying it’s killing whales and dolphins without any evidence.”

A dead whale washes up in Long Branch, home of @vingopal, and yet he still dismisses ANY POSSIBLE tie between sonar mapping + dead mammals. Here, he calls advocates and others “conspiracy theorists.” Non-expert, self-righteousness won’t help. Indep research + moratorium now!! pic.twitter.com/kTWgd3ogtz

— Steve Dnistrian (@sdnistrian) August 14, 2023

Gopal’s Republican opponent this year, Steve Dnistrian is calling for a temporary halt to offshore wind farm construction and mapping. He says he wants to wait to see what the federal government comes up with after conducting a study on the matter.

Ad: Save every day with Amazon Deals: Check out today's daily deals on Amazon.

Earlier this month, the federal government announced a research grant to dive into the topic of the whale deaths along the east coast this year.

Gopal insists the offshore wind turbine farm project must go on. The offshore wind farms are vital to the success of the 2035 Democrat ban on gas powered cars and push to force New Jerseyans to use electric stoves and electric home heating systems, policies supported by Governor Phil Murphy and Gopal.

“A dead whale washes up in Long Branch, home of Vin Gopal, and yet he still dismisses ANY POSSIBLE tie between sonar mapping + dead mammals,” Dnistrian said. “Here, he calls advocates and others “conspiracy theorists.” Non-expert, self-righteousness won’t help.”

Residents criticized Gopal’s conspiracy theory assertion.

“The Senator appears to be employing the Alinsky Rules for Radicals tactic of creating a distraction,” one Twitter user responded.

“He needs to prove the survey mapping is NOT the cause. Otherwise, step aside and shut up,” said Lisa Millar.

“If they would prove the “conspiracy theorists” wrong with actual proof other than their opinion, that would be a great start. They won’t even consider pausing this to study why the sea life is dying,” another responded.

DeSantis Dogs Christie: I’m Not Running for President of a Cable News Network

by Phil Stilton August 26, 2023
By Phil Stilton

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie can’t catch a break on the campaign trail. He’s polling in the gutter across the board. He’s barely registering on the scale in New Hampshire and isn’t even in the ballpark in Iowa. He got booed several times while speaking during the Fox News GOP debate and now, he’s back to polling in low single digits.

But Christie insists on waging war against every other Republican in a campaign that is driven by vengeance and retribution against his old boss, Donald Trump.

He’s also made some shots at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is at this time, Christie’s key opponent for second place in the race.

When asked about Christie’s campaign, DeSantis said he’s obviously not running for President of the United States. Maybe Vice President, or even the President of a liberal cable news network.

Here’s what he said in an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum.

“Well, look, bring it on,” DeSantis said. “People can do what they want. I can tell you this, though, Martha, of anyone on the stage, I’m the only one whose sole purpose is running to be the 47th president of the United States and to reverse this country’s decline. I’m not running to be vice president. I’m not running to be in the cabinet, and I’m not running to be a contributor on cable news. We’re running to win, and we’re gonna show people that we’ll get the job done.”

Career and Technical Education Program Expands to High School North Thanks to Extended Grant

by Phil Stilton August 26, 2023
By Phil Stilton

Toms River, NJ – The successful Project SPEAR-IT, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at High School South, will soon have a counterpart at High School North, thanks to a three-year extension of the Youth Career Pathways grant from the United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties (UWMOC). The new program, named NorthStar, is set to launch for the 2023-2024 school year and has already begun preparations, including curriculum development, ordering supplies, and setting up the workspace.

SPEAR-IT, led by teacher Tim O’Leary, has been one of the most popular courses at High School South since its inception in 2018. The program offers students hands-on learning experiences such as basic electrical work, carpentry, and various refurbishing projects. The impact SPEAR-IT had on students prompted UWMOC to approve the extension and expansion of the grant.

Brian Ainley will lead the NorthStar program, and efforts are underway to integrate the curriculum into the course guide, secure equipment, and prepare the classroom. Classroom E-02 is already stocked with new supplies and 3-D printers, offering abundant space for hands-on learning activities.

High School North Principal Ed Keller expressed his enthusiasm for the program. “Seeing this program thrive at High School South, I couldn’t help but think, I want that here,” said Keller. “NorthStar will not only expand our students’ career visions but also help them develop practical, everyday skills that will be useful in any academic or career path they choose to pursue.”

Female Student Athletes in Toms River Talk Resilience and Inclusion

by Phil Stilton August 26, 2023
By Phil Stilton

Toms River, NJ – Angela Teeple, founder of the apparel company All In, spoke to a packed auditorium of female student athletes at High School North in Toms River. The event was organized by Ted Gillen, Toms River Regional Schools Athletic Director, and included female athletes from all three district high schools.

Teeple shared her personal journey, discussing obstacles she overcame, including battling addiction within her family, a rare medical condition requiring frequent surgeries, and experiences of being bullied and underestimated. Her talk emphasized the value of mental resilience, in addition to physical athleticism. She spoke about her career in field hockey and softball, eventually coaching for over two decades before transitioning to her current role as an entrepreneur and public speaker.

“The three words that matter most to me,” Teeple said, “are grit, grace, and gratitude.”

The event included question-and-answer sessions, during which students received T-shirts for participating. Teeple noted the importance of discussing mental health openly and assured the young athletes that they had an ally in her.

“My superpower,” she revealed, “is turning pain into purpose.”

The event left a noticeable impact on the student body, many of whom were seen smiling and optimistic as they left the auditorium to resume their sporting activities. Teeple, too, acknowledged the large audience and spent time post-event interacting with students, taking photos, and making personal connections.
