DeBlasio announced NYC ban against the unvaccinated, calling it “Key to NYC Pass”

by Shore News Network August 3, 2021
By Shore News Network

NEW YORK, NY – New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio today announced his plan to exclude unvaccinated New Yorkers, workers and tourists from eating in restaurants, attending sports events, and entering indoor private businesses. He’s calling it a “Key to NYC Pass” when it is instead it locks out 40% of the regional New York tri-state area from participating in everyday life.

“Today, I announce a new approach which we’re calling the “Key to NYC Pass”, the key to New York City when you hear those words, I want you to imagine the notion that because someone’s vaccinated they can do all the amazing things that are available in this city,” DeBlasio said.

If you’re unvaccinated, don’t bother, because DeBlasio wants you locked out.

“But, if you’re unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things. That’s the point we’re trying to get across,” DeBlasio said. “It’s time for people to see vaccination as literally necessary to living a good and full and healthy life.”

DeBlasio said the Key to NYC Pass is the first in the nation that will also require vaccination for workers and customers in indoor dining in indoor, fitness facilities, and indoor entertainment facilities.

“This is going to be a requirement,” he said. “The only way to patronize these establishments indoors will be if you’re vaccinated at least one dose.

The Mayor said starting September 13th, the city will begin inspecting businesses and possibly shutting down those who are not denying service to the unvaccinated.

“Right now this new policy will be phased in over the coming weeks so we’ve been working with the business community getting input,” DeBlasio said. “We’re going to do more over the next few weeks.”

DeBlasi added that the plan will roll out officially on August 16th, giving businesses nearly 30 days to comply with the order.

Biden says accused sexual harasser Cuomo “One Hell of a Guy”, the “Gold Standard”

by Adam Devine August 3, 2021
By Adam Devine

President Joe Biden had once said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was the “gold standard” and doing “one hell of a job”. This was as multiple sexual assault allegations were being lodged against Cuomo.

Now, New York Attorney General Leticia Jones has concluded Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women including a New York State Trooper on his personal security detail.

One of the governor’s former aides who claims she was a victim of Cuomo’s sexual harassment called on the governor to resign today. Cuomo, according to documents released by the state often picked on Bennett, sometimes complaining about how she did her hair.

“It’s taking everything in me to deal with this calmly,” Bennett told a friend. “I think I’m going to wear my hair in a bun every day until I see him leave.”

“This is a sad day for New York because independent investigators have concluded that Governor Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and, in doing so, broke the law,” said Attorney General James. “I am grateful to all the women who came forward to tell their stories in painstaking detail, enabling investigators to get to the truth. No man — no matter how powerful — can be allowed to harass women or violate our human rights laws, period.”

Biden administration says migrants who have signs of COVID-19 being released to local healthcare systems

by Conservative Times August 3, 2021
By Conservative Times

The Biden administration today acknowledges that it is not itself testing, quarantining, or treating illegal migrants entering the country via the country’s southern border. Instead, any immigrant who exhibits signs of COVID-19 are instead being released and “referred to local health systems”.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki did not say what, if any public health oversight is conducted once the migrants leave federal custody or if the migrants are required to seek treatment at all once released.

When asked if migrants were being released before being tested in large numbers, Psaki said the process does not require it.

“Let me give you a little bit of an understanding of what actually happens when people come across the border,” Psaki said. “CBP provides migrants with PPE from the moment they are taken into custody and migrants are required to keep masks on at all times including when they are transferred or in the process of being released.

Psaki said the federal government’s protocol is to release the migrants into the local community to see private personal health care.

“Our other protocol is if anyone exhibits signs of illness in, CBP custody they’re referred to local health systems for appropriate testing diagnosis isolation and treatment that is our process,” Psaki said.

CNN finally acknowledges the Biden Border Crisis, “This is a crisis in their own making”

by Conservative Times August 3, 2021
By Conservative Times

CNN has largely been ignoring the Biden Border Crisis and has given the administration a free pass as hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, including many dangerous criminals and those infected with COVID-19 cross the southern border unchecked.

“We learned last night that in July, more than 19,000 unaccompanied children were encountered, that surpasses the record in March”, said Priscilla Alvarez. “It is remarkably high, especially in the summer months where we normally see a decline.”

“This is a crisis of their own making,” she said Republicans said of the Biden administration.

Fast food chain McDonald’s is requiring all its staff and customers, vaccinated and unvaccinated, to resume wearing masks in its restaurants in areas deemed high risk by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The company first announced its new rules in an internal memo to franchisees and workers, CNBC reported. The rules, which went into effect Monday, follow updated guidance last week from the CDC, which recommended fully-vaccinated Americans wear masks indoors to prevent the spread of the delta variant of coronavirus.

McDonald’s told the Daily Caller News Foundation the change in policy was due to the CDC’s updated guidance, and said the company was following the science in making its decision.

Several other major chains have updated their mask policy following the CDC’s new guidance. Retail giant Target announced Monday it would require face coverings for all its workers regardless of vaccine status in stores in high risk areas, while Home Depot said Monday its workers in all of its stores would need to be masked going forward.

Other large companies have imposed vaccine mandates on workers, with Walmart issuing a vaccine mandate for all its corporate employees Friday. Major tech companies Google, Uber and Facebook issued mandates last week requiring all workers to be vaccinated before they can return to the office.

New York City announces vaccine segregation, banning the unvaccinated from restaurants and indoor businesses

by Adam Devine August 3, 2021
By Adam Devine

NEW YORK CITY, NY – If you’re unvaccinated, you might want to think twice about going to New York City, because Mayor Bill De Blasio said this week that he will order businesses, including restaurants, entertainment venues and fitness centers to deny you service.

“If you’re unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things,” de Blasio said. “If you want to participate in our society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated.”

New York City becomes the first city in America to formally announce that it will begin segregating its population by vaccination status, denying business services to the unvaccinated.

The order is similar to the twentieth-century Jim Crow laws that allowed businesses to deny service to African American customers and allowed governments to suppress their rights in accordance with the law.

De Blasio did not say whether or not he will mandate vaccination for private sector workers working in the establishments which deny entry to the unvaccinated.

This is a developing story.

AG Investigation concludes Cuomo used fear and intimidation, sexually harassed multiple women

by Adam Devine August 3, 2021
By Adam Devine

NEW YORK – The independent investigators appointed by New York Attorney General Letitia James — led by Joon H. Kim and Anne L. Clark — today released their report into the multiple allegations of sexual harassment by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. After nearly five months, the investigators concluded that Governor Cuomo did sexually harass multiple women — including former and current state employees — by engaging in unwanted groping, kissing, and hugging, and making inappropriate comments. Further, the governor and his senior staff took actions to retaliate against at least one former employee for coming forward with her story. Finally, the Executive Chamber fostered a “toxic” workplace that enabled “harassment to occur and created a hostile work environment.” The investigators find that Governor Cuomo’s actions and those of the Executive Chamber violated multiple state and federal laws, as well as the Executive Chamber’s own written policies.

The investigation was conducted after, on March 1, 2021, the Executive Chamber made a referral, pursuant to New York Executive Law Section 63(8), for Attorney General James to select independent lawyers to investigate “allegations of and circumstances surrounding sexual harassment claims made against the governor.” Kim and Clark were chosen to lead the investigation on March 8, 2021.

Executive Chamber “Rife with Fear and Intimidation,” Enabled
“Harassment to Occur and Created a Hostile Work Environment”

“This is a sad day for New York because independent investigators have concluded that Governor Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and, in doing so, broke the law,” said Attorney General James. “I am grateful to all the women who came forward to tell their stories in painstaking detail, enabling investigators to get to the truth. No man — no matter how powerful — can be allowed to harass women or violate our human rights laws, period.”

Starting in December 2020, multiple women came forward with allegations that Governor Cuomo sexually harassed them. Over the course of the investigation, the investigators interviewed 179 individuals. Those interviewed included complainants, current and former members of the Executive Chamber, State Troopers, additional state employees, and others who interacted regularly with the governor. More than 74,000 documents, emails, texts, and pictures were also reviewed as evidence during the investigation.

Backed up by corroborating evidence and credible witnesses, the investigators detail multiple current or former New York state employees or women outside state service who were the targets of harassing conduct on the part of the governor.

Sexual Harassment Included Unwanted and Inappropriate Groping, Kissing, Hugging, and Comments That Accusers Called “Deeply Humiliating, Uncomfortable, Offensive, or Inappropriate”

As part of the investigation, Governor Cuomo also sat with the interviewers and answered questions under oath. While the governor denied the most serious allegations, the investigators found that he did so by offering “blanket denials” or that he had a “lack of recollection as to specific incidents.” The investigators also found that the governor’s recollection “stood in stark contrast to the strength, specificity, and corroboration of the complainants’ recollections, as well as the reports of many other individuals who offered observations and experiences of the governor’s conduct.”

Additionally, the investigators found that the Executive Chamber was “rife with fear and intimidation” that not only “enabled the above-described instances of harassment to occur,” but also “created a hostile work environment overall.” Further, Governor Cuomo, himself, and the Executive Chamber engaged in “retaliatory” behavior by “intend[ing] to discredit and disparage” a former employee that came forward with her story of harassment.

The investigation found that Governor Cuomo’s sexual harassment of multiple women and his and the Executive Chamber’s retaliation against a former employee for coming forward with her claims of sexual harassment violated multiple state and federal laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the New York State Human Rights Law, and 42 U.S. Code § 1983, in addition to the Executive Chamber’s own equal employment policies.

Jennifer Kennedy Park, Abena Mainoo, and Rahul Mukhi from the law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP were all deputized — in addition to Joon H. Kim — as Special Deputies to the First Deputy Attorney General to conduct the investigation and issue this report. Yannick Grant from the law firm Vladeck, Raskin & Clark, P.C. was deputized — in addition to Anne L. Clark — as a Special Deputy to the First Deputy Attorney General to conduct the investigation and issue this report. A number of other attorneys from both Cleary Gottlieb and Vladeck were appointed as Special Assistants to the First Deputy Attorney General to assist with the investigation.

Want a job with New York City? You need a vaccination first Mayor says

by Adam Devine August 3, 2021
By Adam Devine

NEW YORK, NY – New York City has announced that all new hires for city jobs will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Mayor Bill De Blasio said.

“The COVID-19 pandemic poses a danger to the health and safety of the City of New York and its residents, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (“CDC”) reports that new variants of COVID-19, identified as “variants of concern,” have emerged in the United States, and some of these new variants which currently account for the majority of COVID-19 cases sequenced in New York City, are more transmissible,” De Blasio said in his executive order signed on Monday.

“The CDC has stated that vaccination is an effective tool to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and benefits both vaccine recipients and those they come into contact with, including persons who for reasons of age, health, or other conditions cannot themselves be vaccinated; and an individual is considered fully vaccinated two or more w eeks following receipt of a second dose in a 2-dose series of a COVID- 19 vaccine, or 2 or more weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the new directive, all persons newly hired for employment by any City agency must provide proof of having received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to beginning their employment, except for those who obtain an exception due to medical or religious reasons through the reasonable accommodation process.

After receiving a conditional offer of employment from a City agency, an applicant for employment must provide proof of having received at least one dose of an approved COVID19 vaccine within a reasonable period of time. Failure by the applicant to provide the agency with proof of having received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine will result in the agency revoking the conditional offer unless the applicant obtains an exception through the reasonable accommodation process.

Any person to whom this Order applies, who begins their employment after providing proof of having received only one dose in a 2-dose series of a COVID-19 vaccine, will also be required to provide their City agency with proof of receipt of a second dose within 30 days of the first dose. Failure to do so will result in termination.

This order takes effect immediately.

Man charged for molestation of 10-year-old child

by Dinesh Patel August 3, 2021
By Dinesh Patel

LAKELAND, FL – On Monday, August 2, 2021, detectives from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a Lakeland man after their investigation determined he had inappropriate sexual contact with a child under 10-years old, whom he had custodial access to.

32-year old Eric Roe was charged with Sexual Battery by Custodian (Capital Felony) and Lewd/Lascivious Molestation (Life Felony).

“A crime such as this is absolutely sickening. The victim is so young, and the perpetrator is in a position of trust; he was someone the child should have been able to look up to. We are going to do everything we can to hold him accountable and make sure he does not have access to victimize a child again.”

Deputies first became aware of the allegations at about 1:55 PM on Monday, when the mother of the victim reported that Roe had just admitted to her that he touch her child inappropriately. She told the deputy that when the victim told her about numerous incidents, she immediately confronted Roe and he said what he did was, “animalistic” and he was ashamed of “fondling” the victim.

The victim’s mother reported that she believed Roe left with a firearm and was acting suicidal.

At about 4:30 PM, deputies located Roe at Gator Creek Reserve, and in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

During an interview with detectives, Roe initially admitted to molesting the victim approximately five times, beginning when the victim was as young as 4-years old. He later said it happened between eight and ten times. Eric Roe was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Processing Center where he was booked-in.

New York Teacher’s Union issues statement on mandatory vaccines, here it is

by Adam Devine August 3, 2021
By Adam Devine

NEW YORK, NY – Earlier this summer the NEA heard a measure to force mandatory vaccinations for K-12 public schools nationwide. This included teachers, staff, and students. That measure was voted down by the NEA and now the political decision of whether to force teachers, students and faculty to get COVID-19 vaccinations in public schools has become a state and local decision.

The New York State Teacher’s Union today issued a statement regarding their stance on the matter.

“We have advocated since the beginning of the year that any educator who wants a vaccine should have easy access to one. We would support local efforts to encourage more vaccinations, such as through programs that require that those who are not vaccinated get tested on a regular basis. But it’s critical that districts come up with plans to make testing available on-site and at no cost. What we have not supported is a vaccine mandate,” the union said.

Cliffside Park man drowned while swimming at Sarco Pit

by Dinesh Patel August 3, 2021
By Dinesh Patel

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – A visit to a popular privately-owned 7000-acre tract of land in Manchester on Sunday afternoon ended tragically for a 22-year-old Cliffside Park man, Jimy Sadan Gomez-Estrada unlawfully visited the Heritage Mineral property (SARCO/ASARCO) on Sunday and attempted to swim in the lake with another individual around 6:30 pm. The two swimmers went into distress and the other individual was pulled from the water by a passerby, however, they were unable to reach Gomez-Estrada.  Gomez-Estrada was subsequently pulled from the water by another passerby and lifesaving measures were initiated at the scene.  Gomez-Estrada was transported to Community Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  The preliminary investigation indicates the drowning to be accidental.

Assisting with this investigation is the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Anyone who may have been at “Crystal Lake” and witnessed this incident is asked to contact Detective Richard Conklin of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Investigations Bureau at 732-657-2009 ext. 4211.

Originally operated by ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company), Inc., the property was sold to and subsequently operated by Heritage Minerals until the cessation of mining operations in the early 1980’s.

As a former mining site, the property consists of 7,000 acres that connect the eastern section of the township off of Route 37 to the western section, off of Route 70. During its years of operation, the land was mined so deeply that numerous bodies of water often referred to as ‘lakes’ formed. These ‘lakes’ which are actually groundwater aquifers, litter the landscape on the site.

Seemingly unassuming, these bodies of water offer many dangers. Because the lakes were formed as a result of the mining operation, they do not have stable bottoms or shorelines, the way naturally occurring lakes do. The banks are very unpredictable and dangerously unstable. Those entering the water will quickly realize that after taking a few steps in the soft, unstable sand that the shoreline ‘shelf’ quickly drops off to depths that exceed 60 feet. Some estimates have the largest ‘lake’ on the property as being up to 300 feet deep.

Because these ‘lakes’ are not fed by any streams but rather by a deep underground source, the water is clear but very cold. These ‘lakes’ are filled with mineral-laden spring water from the underground aquifer and, as such, buoyancy is reduced. Additionally, the water is also much colder, which can result in a swimmer, even an accomplished one, tiring much faster. The characteristics of these ‘lakes’ to include unstable shoreline shelves and water composition have been attributed to several drownings which have occurred on the property.

The Manchester Township Police Department would like to remind the public that the Heritage Minerals or “ASARCO” site is private property. It is closed for recreational and/or other use and it is a criminal offense to enter or remain on the property. In the interest of public safety, the Manchester Township Police urges everyone to obey the “No Trespassing” signs posted at the site. Trespassers are subject to substantial fines and penalties up to and including incarceration for being on the property.

Man struck by lightning, killed hiking the John Muir Trail

by Shore News Network August 3, 2021
By Shore News Network

FRESNO COUNTY, CA – Nicholas Torchia, a 37-year-old Fresno man, was pronounced deceased after being struck by lightning. This occurred around 2:00 pm on Friday, July 30th, in an area known as Sallie Keys Cutoff, which is near Muir Trail Ranch (east of Florence Lake).

Torchia was hiking on the John Muir Trail when thunderstorms quickly moved into the area. Torchia took cover by leaning against a tree, a tree which was then struck by a lightning bolt. Torchia fell to the ground. His fellow hikers came to check on him and he told them he didn’t feel well and then became unconscious.

A doctor and a nurse who were on the trail tended to Torchia by administering CPR for three hours. Despite their great efforts, he ultimately passed away. The incident was reported to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) members constructed a plan to have air support respond to the area. However, due to weather conditions, it was unknown if a helicopter could be flown in. Around 6:00 pm, officers with the California Highway Patrol saw an opportunity to fly in with their helicopter, H40.

They successfully landed at Blayney Meadows, where hikers had transported Torchia’s body. CHP officers completed the recovery and flew Torchia to Fresno where he could be examined by personnel with the Coroner’s Office. Doctors ruled his death to be electrocution caused by lightning.

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL – On Monday, at about 1:30 a.m. a teenage male told deputies that Lancy Keenan 43, of Palatka was holding his mother at gunpoint.

PPD Officer Matthew Buchanan and PCSO Sgt. Bohannon entered the residence and found Keenan sitting in a bedroom pointing a handgun at woman.

Officer Buchanan ordered Keenan several times to drop the gun however Keenan refused to do so and told the officers to he wanted them to “shoot him” and he “wanted to die.”

PPD Lt. Demetrious Johnson responded to the residence and entered the house with additional members of the police department and sheriff’s office. While standing in the doorway of the room with Officer Buchanan and Sergeant Bohannon, Lieutenant Johnson spoke to Keenan in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Keenan also told Lt. Johnson several times that he wanted officers to shoot him.

While Lt. Johnson continued to talk, Officer Buchanan decided to use a less lethal form of enforcement and re-holstered his firearm and pulled his Taser, pointing the Taser at Keenan. At one point while Lt. Johnson was talking, Officer Buchanan observed Keenan take his finger off the trigger to the handgun and loosen his grasp. Officer Buchanan took this opportunity to deploy his Taser, which caused Keenan to drop the firearm and allowed law enforcement officers to rush in and subdue him, taking him into custody.

Keenan was arrested and charged with three counts of false imprisonment, resisting officers with violence and three counts of aggravated assault. He was taken to the Putnam County Jail and held on a $25,000.00 bond

.The names of the adult female and the juveniles who were inside the home at the time of the incident are not being released.

“Situations like this one are why we continue to train all of our deputies in crisis intervention and remain committed to supporting all law enforcement agencies in Putnam and the surrounding area. The teamwork shown by the PPD officers and our deputies helped resolve this potentially deadly situation in a peaceful manner with no injuries,” the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said. “We are very thankful for the safe outcome of this incident. All of the officers and deputies involved showed great courage and restraint in the face of immediate danger as they work to safely resolve the issue. We are proud of all law enforcement members who were on scene and helped protect and save the lives of the victims involved in this case.”

New Castle experiencing higher than usual drug overdose incidents

by Charlie Dwyer August 3, 2021
By Charlie Dwyer

NEW CASTLE, DE – Over the last three days, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have been dispatched to an unusually high number of incidents in which a person has overdosed, and evidence of heroin/fentanyl use was recovered.

The recent overdose cases have resulted in numerous 911 responses and three individuals have died. While the cause of death for these individuals is pending results from the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, it is believed that heroin/fentanyl was a factor.

Overdose is a dangerous and deadly consequence of substance abuse. A large dose of heroin/fentanyl depresses the user’s heart rate and breathing to such an extent that a user cannot survive without medical intervention. We remind the public that if you or someone you know has an opioid or any other substance abuse addiction, please contact us for help

Individuals can apply to our Hero Help Program, which can provide immediate access to treatment and services to assist on the road to recovery, even for those without insurance.

Citizens can call (302)395-2811 or come to the Corporal Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building at 3601 N. DuPont Highway New Castle, Del. 19720 to request further information and inquire about eligibility.

Wildfires continued to surge through southern Turkey Monday, killing 8 people and burning popular coastal resorts, BBC reported.

The wildfires, which started on Wednesday, have caused tourists and locals to evacuate from Turkey’s Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, according to the BBC. Almost 250,000 acres have been burned and firefighters resumed their operations in Marmaris and Koycegiz on Monday, according to the BBC.

Susan Dogan, a local resident of Turunc, told the BBC she saw “smoke, flames and helicopters overhead.”

There have been over 10,000 people evacuated in the Mugla Province in Turkey, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu told the Associated Press Monday.

Over 130 fires have been contained in Turkey and blazes continue to surge in Greece, Spain and Italy, according to the BBC. The fires have been fueled by high winds and a sustained heat wave across southern Europe.

“We are going through days when the heat is above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), where the winds are strong and humidity is extremely low,” Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemiril told the AP. “We are struggling under such difficult conditions,” he added.

The EU has offered to supply firefighters from Croatia and Spain to assist Turkey, as well as water carrying planes, according to the AP.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly refused the assistance, slowing firefighting efforts, the AP reported. Pakdemiril says he only refused planes that carried less than five tons of water and has been accused of being underprepared for the fires and failing to purchase firefighting planes, according to the AP.

A video captured two men trading blows along the aisle of a landed plane over allegedly a reclining seat on a landed American Airlines plane on Sunday.

The flight from New Orleans to Austin arrived around 4:21 p.m. at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, but the two were not arrested after the incident, Austin Police told the Daily Caller News Foundation. Police didn’t go into detail about why they weren’t arrested.

WATCH:

“Stop it,” a passenger is heard screaming in the video posted to KXAN’s Youtube channel. “Do not hit me,” one woman yells.

“Just don’t hurt anybody else on the plane,” another passenger says in the video.

One passenger said the incident began “over a seat that couldn’t unrecline,” according to KXAN.

The two men reportedly started harassing each other over the stuck seat, according to CBS Austin. “When the plane finally landed in Austin and the seatbelt sign was turned off, both men jumped up and physically started fighting each other,” a passenger told CBS Austin.

One man is seen on video trying to stop the fight but to no avail.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported in July 3,615 unruly passenger incidents. There are also 2,666 airlines reported unruly in mask-related incidents this year relating to noncompliance with the federal mask mandate that remains in place for flights and public transit.

Two women were filmed fighting on a flight from Vegas to Atlanta in July. One passenger can be heard saying in the video “it’s lit” as they are fighting.

Several passengers on a Frontier flight started trading punches when it came time to unload the luggage in July.
