Cordova, MD – A significant fire engulfed a mobile home at 29678 Schockley Lane on Monday afternoon, causing an estimated $100,000 in damages. The fire, reported at 4:06 PM, was brought under control within 45 minutes by the Cordova Volunteer Fire Company.

The mobile home, measuring 14 feet by 60 feet, was owned by Brannon Bennett and Jasmen Parzyck, who discovered the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The structure lacked a smoke alarm, and there were no fire alarms or sprinkler systems installed.

Rising Crime: Jugging Hits Maryland

Annapolis, MD – A new trend in theft known as “jugging” is gaining traction in Maryland. Jugging involves a perpetrator following a victim from a bank, ATM, or other financial institution to steal cash through threats of violence or direct assault.

Jugging is classified as an opportunity crime, where suspects choose their victims based on visible indicators of having cash, such as holding bank envelopes or cash bags. The victims are then confronted and either threatened or physically assaulted to surrender their money.

To combat this crime, authorities suggest several precautions:

  1. Always be aware of your surroundings and note any suspicious individuals or vehicles.
  2. Record any suspicious activities observed.
  3. Remain vigilant during visits to financial institutions.
  4. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash; consider using cashier’s checks instead.
  5. Change your banking routine periodically to make it less predictable.
  6. Keep valuables hidden, preferably in the trunk of your car.
  7. Use drive-thru banking services whenever possible to minimize exposure.
  8. Exercise extra caution at ATMs, particularly with how you handle and display cash.
  9. Always put away money discreetly and promptly.
  10. If you suspect you are being followed, move to a crowded, well-lit area and contact the police immediately.

Bernville Mayor Faces Backlash Over Controversial Remarks

BERNVILLE, PA — Mayor Shawn Raup-Konsavage of Bernville is under fire following a controversial comment and subsequent remarks, leading to a petition calling for his removal from office.

The incident began after Raup-Konsavage allegedly responded to a missed shooting attempt with the remark “try harder” on social media, which has sparked widespread outrage within the community.

The backlash intensified when Raup-Konsavage reportedly bragged about his perceived invincibility in office, claiming that no one could remove him. This has prompted residents to organize a petition aiming to remove him from his mayoral position. The controversy has highlighted the difficulty of removing local officials in Pennsylvania, a state known for having some of the strictest rules against recall elections.

He was later defiant about his actions and not removing his post.

“I didn’t take it down…and I have zero intentions of resigning,” the mayor said. “Better yet, there isn’t even a was for you to have me removed from office.”

The situation has created a significant stir in Bernville, with many residents expressing their dissatisfaction and calling for accountability. Despite the petition, the process for removing an elected official in Pennsylvania is complex and often requires substantial legal and procedural steps, making immediate action challenging.

Community leaders and residents are urging for more involvement in local governance to prevent such issues from arising in the future. The incident underscores the importance of responsible and respectful conduct by public officials.

Ardmore – At least one teacher won’t be coming back to class for the 2024 school year after making a post wishing for the death of former President Donald J. Trump

An Ardmore teacher is at the center of controversy after a social media post wishing harm upon former President Donald Trump surfaced. Chaya Raichik’s Libs of TikTok account shared a screenshot from what appears to be a Facebook conversation involving Alison Scott, a teacher in the Ardmore school district.

Her post was first brought to light by the X.com user, Libs of TikTok.

In the post, Scott seemingly expresses regret that an assassination attempt on Trump was unsuccessful. “Meet Alison Scott, a teacher at @Ardmore_Tigers. She appears sad the shooter missed and ‘wishes’ he had a better scope,” Raichik tweeted. The post has ignited significant backlash, highlighting concerns over the content educators share online.

The screenshot included in the tweet shows a troubling exchange where an individual offers $500 to the would-be assassin “for trying to save us…” To which Scott reportedly responds, “Same!!! Wish they had a better scope.”

Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters said his office launched an investigation into Scott’s posts and has announced he will be revoking her teaching certificate.
