Four-time Grammy-nominated country singer Ingrid Andress faced widespread criticism following her national anthem performance at the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field. Before the hitters could take their positions, Andress’s rendition of the anthem drew significant backlash on social media.

Today, she apologized, admitting that she was drunk and is now entering rehab.

“I’m not gonna bulls–t y’all, I was drunk last night,” Andress said today. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is. I hear it’s super fun”

Viewers took to various platforms to express their displeasure, labeling the performance as the “worst-ever National Anthem performance.”

Geographic disparities in parental control practices were also noted. In South Dakota, 80% of parents surveyed actively control their children’s online access, compared to only 30% in Nebraska.

The increasing concerns about social media’s impact on children have prompted calls for more stringent measures. Recently, the Surgeon General urged Congress to mandate warning labels on social media apps, similar to those on cigarettes and alcohol. This growing awareness has driven parents to become more involved in their children’s online activities, although the approaches and levels of vigilance vary significantly.

Race On said they terminated Whipple’s employment upon being made aware of his comments.

“We are aware of the post made by Phil Whipple. Those statements reflect Phil’s view, not RaceON’s, our racing community, sponsors, or partners. Phil‘s relationship with RaceON has been terminated,” the company said in a statement.

Later, Whipple, like others facing backlash for their comments, said his Facebook page had been hacked.

NANTUCKET, MA— It was a three hour tour that ended with Dave Portnoy stranded just feet from the shoreline in Nantucket harbor.

Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, found himself in a precarious situation off the coast of Nantucket on Monday when his 28-foot pleasure craft lost power and began drifting. Portnoy, who humorously referred to himself as Captain Dave during the ordeal, shared the incident with his followers via a social media video.

Portnoy explained that the outing was intended to show his mother his boat. However, upon reaching the vessel moored in Nantucket Harbor, he discovered it was completely without power, leaving him unable to use the engine, radio, or anchor. As he drifted, he attempted to send distress signals using a flare gun.

“Sector Southeastern New England received a report from U.S Coast Guard Station Brant Point of an approximately 28 ft pleasure craft belonging to Dave Portnoy that broke free of its mooring in Nantucket Harbor and was drifting through the area. Station Brant Point diverted from training and towed the vessel to its mooring,” a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said in a statement. “We are glad that he used distressed signals and applaud the Good Samaritan for having a VHF radio ready to hail the Coast Guard.”

The situation took a positive turn when a young woman in a rowboat-like craft noticed Portnoy and contacted the Coast Guard on his behalf. The Coast Guard Station Brant Point, initially engaged in training exercises, responded to the call. Four members of the Coast Guard crew secured and towed Portnoy’s boat back to its mooring.

Portnoy expressed his gratitude on social media platform X, thanking the Coast Guard for their timely intervention and joking about reconsidering future boating ventures. The Coast Guard also issued a statement, praising the Good Samaritan’s use of a VHF radio to call for help and reminding the public about the importance of carrying various forms of communication, like a personal locator beacon or VHF radio, to ensure safety at sea.

Chicago Man Charged in Armed Robbery and Carjacking Incident

Tow Truck Operator Injured in Fox Chapel Incident

Fox Chapel, PA — The Allegheny County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to a call for assistance in Fox Chapel.

At 12:55 p.m., County 9-1-1 received a report of a vehicle over an embankment in the 1 block of Tourelle Lane. First responders discovered an adult male in critical condition at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives have begun investigating the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate the tow truck operator was attempting to secure a vehicle when it broke free. The operator tried to stop the vehicle but was dragged over the embankment with it.

Additional Charges Filed Against Lancaster Child Predator

Lancaster, PA — Eric Dorwart, 55, of the 500 block of Pleasure Road, is facing new charges in connection with a 1997 cold case sexual assault, child pornography, and unlawful contact with a minor.

Dorwart was initially charged in October 2023 for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old in 1997 outside the victims’ home in Gordonville, Leacock Township. DNA evidence collected at the time led to his identification and arrest. He waived his preliminary hearing on October 17, 2023, and was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

In August 2023, a search of Dorwart’s residence uncovered child pornography. Police recovered two laptops and an iPhone, which contained 1,672 images of child pornography, 167 of which showed Dorwart engaging in sexual contact with three prepubescent children. Additionally, 464 images of fetish material were found on the iPhone, with 61 images involving infant and toddler-aged victims.

The latest set of charges emerged after the discovery of images depicting Dorwart engaged in paraphilic sexual behavior with a juvenile victim. The images matched items found during the search of his residence. Dorwart now faces charges of indecent assault of a person less than 13, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, and indecent exposure.

Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate and seek to identify the victims, who may have been infants babysat by the Dorwart family. Anyone with information can contact Pennsylvania State Police Troopers Dakota Baer or Brian McNally at 717-299-7650.

Child Dead After Being Left in Scorching Car in Lakewood for Two Hours

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Days after a child was left in a hot car in Howell and needed to be treated medically for heat exposure, a child has been reported dead in nearby Lakewood Township.

An eight-week-old infant was left in a car for nearly two hours and died Monday afternoon. The child was left in the car outside a Yeshiva. By the time paramedics arrived, it was too late. The child was declared deceased at the scene.

The child was later identified as Chana Ahuvah. The incident happened at Kollel Cheshek Shlomo, just east of the Jackson border on Route 528.

The outside temperature at the time of the incident was approximately 96 degrees.

It is not known at this time if any charges have been filed.

Secret Service Head Explains Lack of Rooftop Agent During Assassination Attempt on Trump

Butler, PA – Kimberly Cheatle, the head of the Secret Service, disclosed why there was no agent positioned atop the building from which an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump. Cheatle is currently under scrutiny and facing resignation calls from lawmakers, labeling the incident a significant security lapse.

During an interview with ABC News on Tuesday, Cheatle explained that the decision against placing an agent on the building, located about 150 yards from where Trump was speaking, was due to safety concerns related to its sloped roof. This building was considered a risky position for an agent because of the potential danger posed by the roof’s slope.

Instead, the strategy was to secure the building from the inside. However, this led to a critical security failure. Thomas Matthew Crooks managed to climb the building and establish a shooting position, complicating law enforcement efforts to locate him. Despite receiving warnings from the crowd, the response was delayed.

The building where the Secret Service snipers were positioned was also a sloped roof, and arguably with a slope steeper than the building where the shooter was positioned.

Cheatle revealed that Crooks was identified as a person of suspicion, but the rapid events outpaced the response capabilities. By the time he was located, he had already taken a position on the rooftop and fired at the former president. Interestingly, Cheatle noted that the snipers protecting Trump were positioned on a building with a comparably more severe sloped roof.

Dismembering a Corpse Not Enough to Keep Suspects in Jail Under New Jersey Bail Reform

Bail Reform Once Again Fails Ocean County Residents As Two People Involved in Murder and Dismemberment of Toms River Man Set Free by Authorities.

JACKSON, NJ – Dismembering a person’s corpse and relocating their remains in plastic bags is not enough of a crime to keep two suspects incarcerated until their trial in New Jersey under the Bail Reform Act.

The heinous murder was committed in Ocean County and is connected to a second murder, a police shootout, and a suicide. None of that was enough to hold the suspects in the Ocean County Jail.

Four people were charged for the disposal of a dismembered body of a murdered Toms River man. One remains in jail, two have been released, and another is at large.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office says there is no danger to the community. The four were charged days after a police standoff with Maxwell Johnston in Toms River. Johnston was the shooter wanted for another murder, a young mother, in Manchester.

Jared Krysiak is wanted by police for the murder and dismemberment of Kerry Rollason.

In that shooting, Johnston killed Gabriella Caroleo in cold blood and in broad daylight near the intersection of Route 571 and South Hope Chapel Road in Manchester.

That led police to a home on Ravenwood Drive in Toms River, where Johnston was hiding out with his intimate partner, Elizabeth Mascarelli.

After Johnston took his own life, Mascarelli was arrested for harboring the fugitive murder suspect. During their investigation, they found evidence of a heinous crime committed in that house. That investigation led investigators to a Jackson Township home where they found the dismembered body of Kerry Rollason, 56, the owner of the Ravenwood Drive home.

The medical examiner’s office was able to identify Rollason from his dismembered body parts. It is not known why he was murdered.

Two more people were arrested for the crime; each was set free. Mascarelli faced new charges for her involvement in the murder and removal of the body, and she is still incarcerated. A third suspect has so far eluded police.

Danielle Bolstad, 42, of Barnegat, Jared Krysiak, 34, of Brick Township, and Jarred Palumbo, 36, of Manchester, were each charged with Hindering Apprehension and Desecration of Human Remains in connection with the same series of events.

On July 13, 2024, Palumbo was taken into custody without incident.  He was processed and served with the charges via summons pending an upcoming first appearance in Ocean County Superior Court.

On July 14, 2024, Bolstad was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

On July 15, 2024, Elizabeth Mascarelli was served with the charges referenced above on a complaint at the Ocean County Jail.

Jared Krysiak has not yet been taken into custody and is considered a fugitive from justice.  As such, a warrant for his arrest has been issued, and his name has been entered in the National Crime Information Center database.

NJEA Staffer Goes Dark After Posting Comment About Shooter Missing Trump

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Education Association staffer Jamaya Newton has gone dark on the internet, removing her Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts after making a statement about the failed assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

In response to the failed attempt to shoot and kill the former President, Newton responded, “What we know: they missed. Smh”

Newton’s comments were obscure until they were posted later in the day on the X account Libs of TikTok. Shortly afterward, she locked all of her social media accounts, going dark on the internet in the aftermath.

The NJEA has not responded to the comment made by Newtong, saying only, “We are appalled by the violence today in Pennsylvania. Politically motivated violence is indefensible and wrong. It has no place in democracy and certainly no place in America”

According to the NJEA, Newton is a secretary in the Professional Development and Instructional Issues Division. Prior to joining NJEA staff, Newton was a registered behavior technician specializing in autism.

Trenton, NJ – As of 8:53 a.m., a downed tree on I-287 northbound, north of Exit 30 – North Maple Ave in Harding Township has closed all lanes, with traffic utilizing the shoulder. At 8:50 a.m., a disabled vehicle on NJ 495 eastbound, east of US 1&9 in North Bergen Township, is blocking the right lane.

At 8:31 a.m., there was a crash on I-295 northbound, south of Exit 67 – US 1 in Lawrence Township, resulting in a left lane closure and causing a 5-10 minute delay. Another crash at the same time on I-295 northbound at Exit 27 – I-76 to I-676 in Bellmawr has closed the left shoulder with similar delays expected.

Earlier at 8:03 a.m., a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer on NJ 18 southbound, north of the Garden State Parkway in Colts Neck Township, has led to all lanes being closed and traffic being detoured. PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – Linda Peterson, the self-described owner of Luna Sheen Yoga in Port Charlotte, is involved in an internet firestorm over comments she made about the death of retired Pennsylvania firefighter Cory Comperatore.

Comperatore was shot and killed Saturday evening in Butler, Pennsylvania during the botched assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump at a campaign rally. Trump was shot in the ear, and two other innocent bystanders were shot that day.

Peterson’s inciteful post on social media read, “Damn it he didn’t die. Well, at least one supporter did. I’ll take what I can get.”

That comment led to outrage by many 2.1 million people who saw the message. In that post she called for the assassination of former President Trump.

“My heart goes out to the family of the shooter,” she said. “Know that he died doing what needed to be done. Hopefully, someone will accomplish the task before we vote.”

Afterward, Peterson remained non-remorseful and defiant of the outlast her comments garnered.

“To all who hate me and are commenting in Messenger, I haven’t even looked at this page in a good long while. So your comments aren’t hurting me or my business any. But if you feel the need,” she posted on Facebook before locking down all of her social media accounts.

Peterson did not answer the phone listed at the business for comment.
