COEUR D’ALENE, ID  – Jamie Gillette, 53, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for wire fraud and making and subscribing a false tax return U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced today. Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye also imposed a term of three years of supervised release to follow Gillette’s prison sentence and ordered her to pay $305,185 in restitution to the victims of the embezzlement and $108,287 in restitution to the IRS. Gillette will remain in local custody pending her designation to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.

According to court records, from in or about 2011 through in or about 2015, Gillette devised a scheme to defraud, and to misappropriate without authority money and property belonging to her employer, Bendable Bright Light, Inc. (BBL). Specifically, Gillette had access to BBL’s business bank account both as signor on the account and through the online payment portal. Using this access, Gillette issued checks from BBL’s account to her personal bank account and made online payments from BBL’s account for personal expenses associated with her accounts, without the knowledge or authorization of BBL. At the sentencing hearing, Judge Nye determined that Gillette had embezzled a total of $305,185 from BBL.

According to court records, on or about April 7, 2014, Gillette electronically signed and caused to be filed a 2013 federal income tax return that she knew contained false information. Specifically, Gillette reported that her taxable income for the calendar year 2013 was $8,003, whereas she knew that her taxable income was much greater. At the sentencing hearing, it was determined that Gillette owed a total of $108,287 in back taxes to the IRS for the tax years of 2011 through 2015.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Thomas A. Rennie, Age 58, of Battle Ground, Washington, and formerly of Portland, Oregon, was sentenced today to one year in prison, supervised release of three years, and restitution to the IRS of $1.5 million for evading payment of employment taxes and personal income taxes.

According to court documents, Rennie operated a car detailing business in Portland for 28 years, and a dog training business in Washington since 2015. Rennie knowingly and intentionally evaded payment of nearly $1.5 million in taxes for the years 2005 through 2017. These unpaid taxes were comprised of employment taxes for his businesses, personal income taxes, and corporate taxes. Rennie’s efforts to evade the payment of his taxes included his failure to maintain proper business books and records; using business bank accounts and a non-profit entity’s bank account to pay personal expenses; concealing ownership of personal assets by placing title to these assets in the names of nominee entities; concealing the income from the sale of one of his companies by placing the proceeds in bank accounts held in the names of nominees; and making false statements to an IRS Revenue Officer.

Rennie previously pleaded guilty to one count of Tax Evasion on December 16, 2019.

The Internal Revenue Service investigated this case. It was prosecuted by Claire M. Fay, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.

ALBANY, NY – Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was defending his brother, Chris, who is a reporter at CNN, who often goes by the nickname, “Fredo” and putting the journalism profession on a pedestal.  This week, Cuomo is berating reporters asking serious questions about the future of education in New York State and New York City as an impending lockdown looms in the air.

“The another day you said this is the city’s decision and today you said, well I might have to impose an orange zone and I might have to close the schools which an orange zone,” the reporter asked Cuomo “So, what’s going on does the city still has the ability to close its schools are you now taking control and saying that you have the power to make this decision and for the millions of parents who want to know are the schools going to open tomorrow in New York City.”

Cuomo lashed out and told the reporters who are in charge, also pulling his “Trump card” and berating reporters.

“All right, first of all, let’s try not to be obnoxious and offensive in your tone because you’re 100 percent wrong. We announced the orange zone law over a month ago I don’t know if you were here or if you were paying attention but that has been in effect for over a month,” Cuomo snapped.  “It always said if by the state’s numbers hit 3 percent the schools close what’s going on here is nothing that the law hasn’t said for over a month. We then had to test out procedures if you were paying attention you would have known we closed the schools in new york city two weeks ago remember when we did an orange zone in a red zone in Brooklyn and Queens and we close the schools.”

He then went on a rant against the reporter.

“Don’t you remember that? Okay, so don’t you so what are you talking about how what are you talking about you’re now going to override. We did it already that’s the law an orange zone in a red zone follows the facts so confused well then you’re confused.”

TRENTON, NJ – When New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announces the next COVID-19 lockdown protocol in the Garden State, he will undoubtedly be viewed as an out of control governor imposing his will on the peasants of his socialist fiefdom by many.   When a coalition of socialist-leaning northeastern governors from a federation of liberal states announce the next unified regional lockdown to save millions of people from dying, things might be viewed differently.  Governor Murphy will be just one of several lords, a servant to King Andrew Cuomo doing the bidding of the King in the best interest of the kingdom and for the health of its subjects.   Peasants and freemen will surrender their inalienable freedoms for the good of the kingdom, but the nobility class, the business owners, free thinkers, scientists, and those who cherish the liberties provided by the constitution of the United States will undoubtedly revolt.  They will be outcast as dangerous, a fringe who wants to put grandma and grandpa’s lives at risk…troublemakers.  They will feel the wrath of the Murphy empowered criminal justice system that frees hardened criminals from prison, but criminalizes your ability to exercise your freedom.

Like the Continental Congress which led to the formation of the United States, Governor Murphy has aligned with six other socialist-leaning northeastern governors to form their own congress, a COVID-19 congress, that could pave the way to further increasing the powers they have each so far bestowed upon themselves.    The legislature and senate in New Jersey have become figureheads.  They don’t provide checks and balances to keep the lord of New Jersey in check, they exist only to keep dissenters, the few Republicans with a spine in New Jersey, in order.

Political warriors that roam the halls of the statehouse, such as Hal Wirths, Parker Space, Serena DeMaso, Mike Testa, and a few others will remain powerless. Their voices bring the only weapon in their arsenal…that is until that too is taken away by Facebook and Twitter.

Most remaining Republicans in New Jersey ride the clear, calm channels while the people above try to establish a beachhead in the breakwaters of politics in New Jersey.

They are powerless to stop Governor Phil Murphy’s new alliance, the Magnificient Seven includes New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania,  Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.  The governors met for a summit this past Sunday and today, issued the first edict of their new federation, to urge all colleges to make COVID-19 testing available to all residential students before leaving for their Thanksgiving break.

Of course, this mandate comes just one week before that break and doesn’t really include a plan, funding, or even explain to universities and colleges how to implement or pay for that plan.  It was just an order.  Just the first of many to come in the coming weeks as those seven governors coordinate a politically expedient second lockdown in which none of them can be held personally responsible.

Until now, Murphy has followed the lead of the de facto king of this alliance, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, but now, the entire alliance will follow the lead of Cuomo.

Tonight, this new socialist federation has given itself a name.  They officially call themselves the Regional Coalition of Northeast Governors, or in other words, the People’s Democratic Socialist Republic of Greater New York.

A dog’s temperament is the result of their owner’s own personality and as the pit bull breed is demonized by the media, those who have been around the breed know they are loving, loyal, kind, and caring canines.  Pitbulls, because of their sheer natural strength are often exploited by the nefarious and devious to be turned into aggressive guard dogs and attack dogs.   They have claimed the stereotype because of the media that was once placed upon the Doberman and the German Sheppard.   Anyone who has a pitbull knows this isn’t the case.  They are clownish, intelligent, loyal, obedient, and affectionate dogs.  This pitbull in a video now going viral demonstrates the loving character trait that is the cornerstone of the breed.

The United States will draw down forces in Afghanistan and Iraq by Jan. 15, 2021, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher C. Miller said today at the Pentagon.

Miller announced the drawdown of troops to 2,500 in Afghanistan and 2,500 in Iraq during his first appearance in the Pentagon briefing room. There are currently around 4,500 U.S. service members in Afghanistan and 3,000 in Iraq.

Miller, who took over as acting secretary on Nov. 9, said the move was made with the full concurrence of military officials in the U.S. Central Command area and at the Pentagon. The decision is in keeping with President Donald J. Trump’s promise to get U.S. forces home from the “forever wars.”

A senior defense official speaking on background before the announcement said the president has been consistent about withdrawing forces from the countries. One precondition was that U.S. safety and security not be threatened by the actions. The senior defense official said that certain conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan had to be met, but the official declined to enumerate them.

The official said the U.S. forces left in both countries should be able to continue the mission with no degradation in capabilities.

Hundreds of thousands of U.S. service members and troops from partner nations have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many Americans served multiple tours. More than 6,900 Americans have been killed in these wars and more than 52,000 have been wounded. This does not count the almost 3,000 Americans killed in the terror strikes of Sept. 11, 2001, that began this. The al-Qaida terror group used Afghanistan as a planning, training and staging area for the strikes in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania.

“In light of these tremendous sacrifices, and with great humility and gratitude to those who came before us, I am formally announcing that we will implement President Trump’s orders to continue our repositioning of forces from those two countries,” Miller said. “This is consistent with our established plans and strategic objectives, supported by the American people, and does not equate to a change in policy or objectives.”

Miller said Trump’s decision is based on continuous engagement with his national security cabinet over the past several months. “We will execute this repositioning in a way that protects our fighting men and women, our partners in the intelligence community and diplomatic corps, and our superb allies that are critical to rebuilding Afghan and Iraqi security capabilities and civil society for lasting peace in troubled lands,” Miller said.

Miller said he has spoken to Afghan and Iraqi officials and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The decision is not irreversible, Miller said. “If the forces of terror, instability, division and hate begin a deliberate campaign to disrupt our efforts, we stand ready to ally the capabilities required to thwart them,” Miller said.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The second wave of COVID-19 lockdowns are closing in on New Jersey, where Governor Phil Murphy has indicated he too might be edging closer in that direction.  Across the Delaware, Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love has entered what they are calling “Safe at Home” restrictions to defend the city against increasing COVID-19 figures.  Safe at Home is another word for lockdown…one that will for sure cripple business already under dire stress and financial hardship. The lockdown will extend through the end of 2020.

Here’s what’s happening west of the Delaware River starting Friday.

As Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Tom Farley says, “We may be tired of COVID, but COVID’s not tired of us.”

In response to rising COVID-19 cases in Philadelphia, the City and Department of Public Health have announced changes to restrictions on businesses, events and gatherings, and other activities to help flatten the epidemic curve, prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed, and reduce the number of COVID-19 deaths.

The new “Safer at Home” restrictions are effective November 20, 2020 through January 1, 2021. An extension of these restrictions and/or the implementation of additional restrictions is possible depending on trends in the spread of coronavirus in the city.

Businesses with questions about how to comply with the new restrictions should contact the Department of Commerce’s Office of Business Services at [email protected] or 215-683-2100.

To report a business or other institution that is not following the City’s COVID-19 restrictions, residents can call 3-1-1 or submit a request on Philly 311’s website.

The following businesses and activities are not allowed:

  • High schools and colleges must move to online instruction only, with the exception of clinical instruction for students in health sciences.
  • Indoor dining at restaurants and other food service businesses. (Takeout, delivery and outdoor dining may continue. Additional restrictions on outdoor dining are detailed below.)
  • Theaters, including movie theaters, and other performance spaces.
  • Bowling alleys, arcades and game spaces.
  • Museums.
  • Libraries. (Those serving as Access Centers may continue to operate. Curbside dropoff and pickup services for patrons are allowed.)
  • Casinos.
  • Recreational activities and sports for youth, community groups, and schools.
  • Gyms and indoor exercise classes. (Exercise groups and classes may continue outdoors.)
  • Indoor pools.
  • Senior day services (senior centers and adult day care centers) remain closed.

Changes to events and gatherings include:

  • All indoor gatherings and events involving people from more than one household are prohibited, in public or private spaces. This includes private events such as weddings and showers, listed as “celebrations” in previous guidance, as well as funerals.
  • Religious institutions are permitted to have people indoors, but density must be capped at 5 people per 1,000 sq. ft. or 5 percent of maximum occupancy.
  • Outdoor gatherings and events are limited to 10 percent of maximum capacity of the space, or 10 people per 1,000 sq. ft. for venues with an undefined maximum capacity—not to exceed 2,000 people in any outdoor space. In addition, all individuals at outdoor gatherings must wear masks at all times, and—to reinforce mask use—neither food nor beverages may be served.

Additional changes to capacity limits and other precautions will be instituted for businesses and activities that are able to continue:

  • Restaurants offering outdoor dining must reduce table sizes to four people. Guidance will make it clear that groups dining outdoors should be household members only, because mixing different households promotes community-wide spread.
  • Retail stores and indoor malls may continue to operate, but with a maximum density of 5 people per 1,000 square feet. The City will require these stores to enforce mask use and distancing of customers and staff.
  • Offices are permitted to have only employees that cannot work remotely.
  • Barbershops, beauty salons, and similar personal services may continue to operate, but all staff and customers must wear masks at all times. These businesses cannot work on the face or otherwise perform services that require that masks be removed.
  • College sports may continue if their plan is specifically approved by the Department of Public Health and no spectators are present.
  • Zoos may operate only their outdoor areas.
  • Parks, trails, playgrounds, and athletic fields will remain open for individual use only. (No group sports.)

The following businesses and activities can continue to function under current guidance from the Department of Public Health:

  • Grocery stores and farmers markets.
  • Pharmacies.
  • Banks.
  • Construction.
  • Landscaping.
  • Home-based construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Manufacturing and warehousing.
  • Real estate operations and transactions.
  • Health care services.
  • Home-based support services, such as home health services.
  • Taxis and ride share services.
  • Transit.
  • Outdoor mobile food carts and trucks.
  • Hotels.
  • Drive-in events in which people remain in their vehicles.
  • Child day care and early learning centers.
  • Elementary and middle schools.
  • Access Centers for children in elementary and middle school.

In every permitted setting, be sure to follow our Safety Checklist to help reduce the spread of COVID-19:

  • #MaskUpPHL to block the virus from spreading and require others to wear them.
  • Use barriers such as sneeze guards or plexiglass screens.
  • Keep people who may be infected away from others (ideally at home).
  • Practice social distancing (6 feet!).
  • Reduce crowds.
  • Frequently wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Keep surfaces clean (don’t forget your cell phone!).
  • Communicate with staff, customers and others taking part in permitted activities and ensure everyone understands and follows this Safety Checklist.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The creator of investment companies Family Wealth Legacy and Zolla was arrested today for a $35 million fraud scheme, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

Matthew Piercey, 44, of Palo Cedro, was arrested today after a grand jury returned an indictment on Nov. 12, charging him with wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, and witness tampering. The indictment was unsealed today following his arrest.

When law enforcement agents attempted to arrest Piercey today, he fled from arrest by leading agents on a vehicle chase through residential neighborhoods and then onto the highway before abandoning his vehicle and entering Lake Shasta with an underwater submersible device. Law enforcement officers arrested him after he emerged from the lake.

In addition, Kenneth Winton, 67, of Oroville, was charged separately by criminal information with conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

According to court documents, from about July 2015 through August 2020, Piercey carried out an investment fraud scheme that raised a total of approximately $35 million in investor funds. Piercey used Family Wealth Legacy and Zolla to solicit funds from investors using a variety of false and misleading statements, including about trading algorithms, the success of the companies’ investment strategies, and the liquidity of investments. For example, Piercey solicited investor money for an “Upvesting Fund” that allegedly was an algorithmic trading fund with a history of success, but he admitted privately to an associate that there was no Upvesting Fund. Piercey first recruited Winton as an investor, then to assist with raising investor funds, and ultimately to take on management responsibilities at Zolla. From 2018 to 2020, Winton conspired with Piercey and made various false and misleading statements to investors, including about the success of Zolla’s investment strategies, the reasons for delays in payment to investors, and the current location, value, and nature of Zolla investments.

Piercey and Winton used some investor money to make payments to other investors in a “Ponzi scheme.” In total, they paid back approximately $8.8 million to investors. They used other investor money for various business and personal expenses, including two residential properties and a houseboat. Few, if any, liquid assets remain to repay investors.

According to court documents, Piercey also tampered with multiple witnesses by discouraging them from responding to grand jury subpoenas related to the investigation.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher S. Hales and Miriam R. Hinman are prosecuting the case.

Piercey is scheduled for his initial appearance and arraignment on Tuesday, Nov. 16. Winton is scheduled for his initial appearance on Thursday, Nov. 19.

If convicted, Piercey faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss, whichever is greater, for each wire fraud and mail fraud count; 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each witness tampering count; and 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000 or twice the value of the property involved, whichever is greater, for each money laundering count. If convicted, Winton faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss, whichever is greater. Any sentence, however, would be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables. The charges are only allegations; the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

A “sun dog” is an atmospheric optical illusion that can occur anywhere in the world, but usually requires cold temperatures and ice crystals suspended high in the earth’s atmosphere. The illusion gives the appearance at sunset that the sun is surrounded by two bright smaller ‘suns’ which appears to be the sun surrounded by two bright spots on either side.  The refraction of the sunlight through the atmospheric ice crystals is what creates the illusion. This incredible view was captured earlier this month in Deadhorse, Alaska.

About this video: Filmed on November 9, 2020 in Deadhorse, Alaska, USA. According to the uploaders, “I was at work and looked out the back window and got a glimpse of a beautiful sunset. So I walked outside to get a picture and wasn’t expecting to see 3 sunsets. From what I’ve researched, this is called a Sun Dog and they occur when hexagonal ice crystals in the clouds bend light.”

VIA BONGINO REPORT –  When U.S. Senator Josh Hawley confronted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg regarding the social media company coordinating censorship with Twitter and Google, Zuckerberg said he did not coordinate policies with those companies, adding that he is not aware of specifics, adding that it would be normal for tech workers to speak to and work with their peers and colleagues in the industry at other corporations.

“Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg suddenly developed amnesia when he was questioned on a tracking tool allegedly used by his company,” Dan Bongino reported today.

“We have clear evidence of coordination between Twitter, Google and Facebook. Mr. Zuckerberg knows he has the tools to track this but he either doesn’t remember or won’t commit to letting us see,” Hawley concluded. “We have evidence of Facebook tracking its own users all across the web. Mr. Zuckerberg won’t answer questions about it, can’t remember  the name and isn’t sure if the tool was deployed in this way and won’t commit to giving us basic information. I submit to you that this is both totally unacceptable and totally predictable because it is exactly what these tech people have done to America and Congress for years now, which is why it is time take action against these modern-day robber barons.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, a robber baron is a person who has become rich through ruthless and unscrupulous business practices (originally with reference to prominent US businessmen in the late 19th century).

“I’m saying that I’m not aware of any particular level but some level of communications could happen,” Zuckerberg said.

Hawley asked Zuckerberg to commit to providing the Senate with data used by a Tasks content moderation database to coordinate censorship on his platform.  After Zuckerberg denied to provide the information, Hawley threatened to subpoena the information.

Zuckerberg then denied the existence of a program called Centra that tracks user data that the company uses to shutdown Facebook pages.  Zuckerberg denied having any knowledge of the existence of the Centra program.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg today admitted that most of his employees are leftist radicals today during a hearing with U.S. senators admitting, “It’s undisputable.”

“A lot of these decisions are not being made by humans, but by algorithms,” said Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. “To me that is the conversation that we should be focused on because that is the enduring use case for everyone who interacts with these services.

“Democrats often say that we don’t remove enough content, and Republicans often say we remove too much,” Zuckerberg said in an earlier hearing.

Greenbelt, Maryland – U.S. District Judge George J. Hazel today sentenced Henry Lee Kenner II, age 43, of Alexandria, Virginia, to 150 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for kidnapping and witness tampering.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur; Special Agent in Charge Jennifer C. Boone of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office; and Colonel Woodrow W. Jones III, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police.

According to Kenner’s plea agreement, on June 8, 2019, Kenner, dressed in black, drove from Virginia to the home of the victim in Prince Frederick, Maryland, and asked to speak with the victim.  An argument ensued and Kenner struck the victim with his fist and cut her hand with a knife, then forcibly removed the victim from her home, without her consent.  Kenner continued to assault the victim as he took her to his car and put her in the passenger seat.  A witness who saw some of these events stated that Kenner threatened to kill the victim if she opened the door when Kenner was walking around the car to the driver’s seat.

As detailed in the plea agreement, Kenner drove the vehicle from Calvert County through Charles and Prince George’s County, and continued to assault and yell at the victim.  At one point, a Trooper from the Maryland State Police called Kenner on his cellular phone and asked that he return with the victim to her residence.  Kenner indicated that he would do so, but instead continued across the state line, into Virginia.  Kenner then pulled over and disposed of the knife.  Eventually, Kenner dropped the victim off at a hospital where she was treated for her injuries.  Kenner ultimately turned himself in to the Maryland State Police.

In October 2019, Kenner was charged federally in Maryland for kidnapping.  In December 2019, while in federal custody awaiting trial, Kenner attempted to persuade an individual, in exchange for money, to arrange for the killing of the victim so that she would be unable to testify against him.  Kenner provided the victim’s personal identifying information to the individual so that it could be used to locate and kill the victim.  The individual did not execute the plan and no money changed hands.

United States Attorney Robert K. Hur praised the FBI and Maryland State Police for their work in the investigation and thanked the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office for its assistance.  Mr. Hur thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys G. Michael Morgan, Jr. and Joseph R. Baldwin, who prosecuted the case.
