Alexandria, VA – The U.S. Marshals in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia conducted a significant five-day law enforcement effort, dubbed “Operation Find Our Children,” throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia that resulted in the rescue of 27 previously missing children and confirmed the location of six additional children previously reported as missing and subsequently discovered by the U.S. Marshals Service as being in the custody of their legal guardian.

Led by deputy U.S. Marshals from the two federal judicial districts, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and special agents, police officers and detectives from numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, more than 60 law enforcement investigators formed the primary team in Operation Find Our Children. They were joined by more than 50 employees from the Virginia Department of Social Services and various medical professions. Subject matter experts at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children enhanced the team.

“The Department of Justice is dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable children in our society and ‘Operation Find Our Children’ does just that,” said Jeffrey A. Rosen, Deputy Attorney General. “While this Virginia operation is the most recent recovery of endangered and missing children led by the U.S. Marshals Service this year, we have also recovered more than 440 kids in Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana and other states. Because of this initiative, the recovered children are now out of harm’s way.”

“I can think of no more critical or satisfying mission for a law enforcement officer, than rescuing an endangered child,” said Nick E. Proffitt, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia. “This operation brought together a formidable team that was, and is, determined to come to the aid of our youth and bring to justice those among us that choose to prey on these vulnerable children. I am proud of the Deputy Marshals in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and their partners for the work they accomplished this week – and the results speak for themselves; these 27 children are safe once again. I am deeply humbled and highly honored that our team in Eastern Virginia is a continuing part of this critical Marshals Service mission. We want the missing children across this great nation to know the U.S. Marshals Service will never stop looking for you, we will find you.”

“The U.S. Marshals Service has a legendary history of finding fugitives and bringing them to justice,” said Thomas L. Foster, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Virginia. “Because of this specialized skill set, finding missing children is a natural extension of the Marshal’s mission. Although many of the 27 recoveries occurred in Virginia’s larger population centers, seven occurred in the Western District of Virginia to include Roanoke and Abingdon. This operation brought missing and exploited children to a place of safety and those who made the decision to prey upon them to justice.”

“What a tremendous testament to the power of cooperation and the mission of federal, state, and local law enforcement,” said G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. “There is no greater mission than that of protecting and rescuing the most vulnerable. A huge debt of gratitude to the United States Marshal’s Service for their leadership of this operation and to all of the brave women and men of law enforcement who are responsible for saving these children.”

“There is no greater mission for law enforcement than rescuing an endangered child,” Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar of the Western District of Virginia said today. “I applaud the United States Marshals in the Western and Eastern Districts of Virginia for their leadership and willingness to leverage their expertise and partner with sister agencies to bring missing children home. We stand ready to investigate and prosecute any leads that come from this important operation.”

“The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was pleased to support the U.S. Marshals Service and the many support organizations that helped find and rescue these children,” said John F. Clark, President and CEO of NCMEC. “Missing children are extremely vulnerable to being trafficked for sex and are at risk of further emotional and physical harm. Because of this operation, 27 children have been found and are now safe.”

Significant assistance for Operation Find Our Children was provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, along with Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Treasury Office of Inspector General, Metro Transit Police Department, Virginia State Police, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, Chesterfield County Police Department, Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, Hampton Police Department, Henrico County Police Department, Norfolk Police Department, Prince William County Police Department, Portsmouth Police Department, Richmond City Police Department, Roanoke City Police Department, Virginia Beach Police Department, and Virginia Department of Corrections.

“Virginia Department of Social Services prioritizes and supports the safety and well-being of the children and families in Virginia, and prioritizes work with partners in achieving these goals, including this collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service and through partnership with the local departments of social services, (LDSS) including those that directly supported the operation,” said Director of the Division of Family Services, Kristin Zagar.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Former U.S. President Joe Biden knows Philadelphia well…so well, that he claims he’s called Pennsylvania’s ‘third senator’.   Biden is such a son of the City of Brotherly love, he wore and showed off his imaginary Philadelphia Eagles jacket.  Except…it wasn’t an Eagles jacket. It was a jacket with the logo of the University of Delaware Blue Hens.    “I know Philadelphia well. I married a Philly girl, by the way,” Biden told a crowd in Philadelphia.  “And by the way, I’ve got my Eagles jacket on.”

WISE, VA – Cases of COVID-19 have been increasing steadily over the last four weeks in Lee, Scott and Wise counties and Norton City. The LENOWISCO Health District, which includes the three counties and Norton City, surpassed a cumulative 1,300 cases this week. The district also has seen 27 COVID outbreaks, 103 COVID-related hospitalizations and 23 COVID-related deaths.

“Simple and effective personal precautions are the key to limiting the spread of this disease,” said Sue Cantrell, M.D., director of the LENOWISCO and Cumberland Plateau Health Districts. “Remember and practice the three Ws: Wear a mask, Watch your distance (six feet), Wash your hands. And keep in mind that your behavior can help protect yourself and others — or put you and them at increased risk. This is especially important for the elderly, or those with other medical complications or conditions. Please make the right choices to protect yourself and others, everywhere and all the time.”

We are all safer at home, especially those who are at higher risk of severe illness. While we can’t eliminate the risk of COVID-19, we can reduce it. VDH recommends the following precautions:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a face mask when around others outdoors in public places, or indoors if you are with people that are not members of your household; that is, people who do not live with you. Wear your mask properly; it should completely cover both the nose and mouth, fit snugly against the sides of your face and allow you to breathe comfortably.
  • Maintain good physical distance between yourself and others: six feet or more, or 10 feet or more if singing, shouting or exercising.
  • Stay home if you are sick, or have been with someone who is sick.
  • Wash and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently.
  • Get a flu shot.

“We can still gather together with friends and family, socialize, exercise, worship and celebrate the holidays, if we commit to doing so safely,” said Dr. Cantrell. “It’s simple and easy to protect yourself, your loved ones and everyone around you.”

On Tuesday, October 13, Governor Northam was cleared by health officials to leave isolation and return to work. He thanked Virginians for their prayers and well-wishes as he and the First Lady recovered from COVID-19.

Under health guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, individuals who test positive can generally discontinue isolation after 10 days and resolution of symptoms. None of the 65 people identified as close contacts of the Governor through contact tracing by the health department have tested positive for the virus.

“When that test comes back positive, it is frightening. This is a dangerous virus. It’s very contagious, and it’s stubborn,” Governor Northam said. “It’s too easy to think, oh, this will never happen to me. But it can. Please take this virus seriously. Please continue to abide by public health guidance – washing hands, wearing masks, and avoiding crowds. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and I know everyone is frustrated. But we’re not out of the woods. We are in this together, and that means we must act to protect not just ourselves, but each other.”

TOMS RIVER, NJ – On Halloween, the state of New Jersey posted a ‘meant to be funny’ post on its Facebook page with the ‘scariest costume’, a self-service gas pump, but the reality is, pumping gas in New Jersey is pretty frightful.   New Jersey has low gas prices right now as does much of the nation, but as most of the nation is now under $2 per gallon for regular unleaded gas, New Jersey remains among the highest in the country with prices ranging between $2.10 and $2.40 per gallon this week.  That’s because the state has one of the highest gasoline taxes in the country.  According to Gas Buddy, New Jersey is ranked 13th highest per-gallon gasoline price in the country.  That’s because of a 40.2 cent gas tax.  If you removed the New Jersey gas tax completely, your next self-serve fillup would be just $1.68 per gallon.  Now that is something that is actually very scary.

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A one-time fugitive who fled to Iran after kidnapping and torturing a marijuana dispensary owner in a vicious attack that left his victim permanently disfigured was sentenced today to two life sentences in state prison without the possibility of parole. He was also sentenced to a third life sentence with the possibility of parole.

Hossein Nayeri, 41, was convicted in August 2019 of two felony counts of kidnapping for ransom and one felony count of torture. The jury could not reach a verdict on a felony charge of aggravated mayhem and found an enhancement of infliction of great bodily injury was not true.

Nayeri is still facing trial for a brazen 2016 escape from the Orange County Jail. He and two other inmates are accused of orchestrating an escape from the county jail, kidnapping a cab driver, and forcing him to drive them to San Francisco. Nayeri and one of his co-defendants were captured after a homeless man recognized Nayeri from news coverage and alerted police. As an Orange County Supervisor, now District Attorney, Todd Spitzer led the effort to offer a $100,000 reward for the capture of the jail escapees and personally presented the reward to Matthew Hay-Chapman for providing the information that led to their arrests.

“The devastating depraved heart and extreme intelligence allowed this individual to inflict unimaginable horror on his victims,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “Despite his best efforts to avoid capture, Orange County law enforcement was relentless in pursuing justice by orchestrating arrest halfway around the world, and then capturing him once again following his escape from the Orange County Jail in 2016. Today, the tortured stood up and confronted his torturer and watched a judge sentence him to two lifetimes behind bars. Today, justice was served.”

Co-defendant Kyle Shirakawa Handley, 41, was convicted in 2018 of two felony counts of kidnapping for ransom, one felony count of aggravated mayhem and one felony count of torture.  He was sentenced to two life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole plus 14 years.

Ryan Anthony Kevorkian, 41, and Naomi Josette Rhodus, formerly Naomi Kevorkian, 40, face the same charges. They both face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

At the time of the kidnapping, victim John Doe owned a lucrative marijuana dispensary business.

Sometime before October 2012, John Doe treated several marijuana growers to Las Vegas for an extravagant and expensive weekend. Handley, who grew and sold marijuana to John Doe, attended the trip.

After the trip to Las Vegas, Handley told his friends Nayeri and Ryan Kevorkian that the victim was extremely wealthy. The defendants are accused of devising a plan to kidnap and rob John Doe.

A month prior to the kidnapping, the defendants are accused of video surveilling the victim’s home and following him as he made frequent trips to the desert. John Doe regularly drove to the desert to discuss a possible investment deal, but the defendants believed that the victim was driving to the desert in order to bury large amounts of cash.

Approximately one week prior to the kidnapping of John and Jane Doe, Nayeri led Newport Beach police officers on a high-speed chase after he refused to pull over for a routine traffic violation.

After crashing his vehicle, Nayeri abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police found surveillance equipment and videos inside of the abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.

On Oct. 2, 2012, Handley, Nayeri, and Ryan Kevorkian are accused of entering John Doe’s Newport Beach home with the intent to kidnap and rob him. Once inside, they are accused of zip-tying the victim’s wrists, severely beating him and forcing him in a van. They are also accused of zip-tying and kidnapping Jane Doe, who was the girlfriend of John Doe’s roommate. Handley, Nayeri, and Kevorkian are also accused of stealing a large amount of cash from the home.

The defendants are accused of driving the victims to the desert where they believed John Doe was hiding money. They are accused of continuing to torture John Doe throughout the drive by burning him with a blow torch and severely beating him. Once in the desert, the defendants are accused of sexually mutilating the victim by cutting off his penis. They are accused of pouring bleach on the victim in an effort to destroy any DNA evidence and dumping both zip-tied victims on the side of the road. Jane Doe was not physically harmed.

Handley, Nayeri, and Ryan Kevorkian are accused of fleeing the scene and taking the victim’s penis with them so that it could never be reattached.  Jane Doe managed to get her feet free. With her hands still zip-tied behind her back she ran over a mile to a main road in the dark, and flagged down a police car.

John Doe spent an extensive period of time in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Investigation and Arrests

As part of its investigation, Newport Beach police canvassed John and Jane Doe’s neighborhood. A neighbor had been suspicious of a car parked outside John Doe’s home on Oct. 2, 2012, and wrote down the license plate. Handley was the registered owner of that car.

Police discovered evidence of the kidnapping and torture inside Handley’s home. Nayeri’s DNA was found on that evidence. DNA from two other unidentified people was also found on the evidence.

After Nayeri was identified as a suspect, Newport Beach connected the video surveillance equipment and footage found in the Nayeri’s vehicle following the high-speed pursuit to the kidnapping and torture.

Ryan Kevorkian and Rhodus were later identified as potential suspects in the kidnapping and torture. Rhodus and Kevorkian were both matched to the unidentified DNA profiles found on the evidence in Handley’s home. Rhodus is accused of participating in the plan to kidnap and torture John Doe.

Ryan Kevorkian and Rhodus were arrested Nov. 8, 2013, in Fresno by Newport Beach detectives.

Extradition

After the kidnapping and torture, Nayeri is accused of fleeing the United States to Iran, where he remained for several months. Iran does not extradite suspects to the United States. On Nov. 7, 2013, Nayeri was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Prague airport while transferring flights from Iran to Spain to visit family. The defendant faced extradition proceedings in the Czech Republic.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Heather Brown of the Homicide Unit prosecuted this case.

BROOKLYN, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced today that Jordan Adderley, 30, has been indicted by a Queens County grand jury and arraigned charges of sex trafficking of a child, compelling prostitution, rape and other crimes. The defendant allegedly forced a 16-year-old girl to trade sex for cash with strangers and then pocketed all the money for himself throughout the entire month of September 2020.

District Attorney Katz said, “Sex trafficking is not a choice – it is forced submission to trade sex for money using intimidation, physical abuse and manipulation. The defendant in this case allegedly used brute aggression to make this youngster perform sex acts with men. He is also accused of using her for his own sexual gratification. This cannot stand. The defendant was apprehended outside the Umbrella Hotel, as he waited for the victim to finish working for him. Now, he awaits judgment by a jury of 12.”

Adderley, of Watkins Street in Brooklyn, was arraigned before Acting Queens Supreme Court Justice Peter Vallone Jr., on a 17-count indictment charging him with sex trafficking of a child, sex trafficking, compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution in the second degree, rape in the third degree, criminal sexual act in the third degree, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, assault in the third degree, attempted rape in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. Justice Vallone set the defendant’s return date for November 23, 2020.

If convicted, Adderley faces up to 25 years in prison. According to the charges, from September 1st through October 1st of this year Adderley allegedly took the victim to various hotels, including the Umbrella Hotel on Queens Boulevard and the Hillcrest Hotel on Hillside Avenue, where he allegedly forced her to have sex with various men for money. The defendant set a pay scale for short sexual encounters and for longer interactions. He told the girl she owed him money and she was forced to turn over all the money for having sex with strangers to the defendant. DA Katz said, the defendant while renting a room at the Hillcrest Hotel allegedly had sexual intercourse and oral sex with the teenager. One occasion, he allegedly pried open the girl’s legs and attempted to force himself on her as she told him to stop and begged him not to hit her.

Additionally, Adderley is accused of trafficking the child and threatening the victim with death if she did not comply. On another occasion, he also wrapped his hands around her neck and choked her to the point the teenager thought she was going to pass out. Continuing, said the DA, on October 1st an undercover police officer responded to an online prostitution advertisement and engaged the girl in a conversation. A deal was struck to trade money for sex inside the Umbrella Hotel.

The defendant drove the teenager and dropped her off for the prostitution date with the man, who unbeknownst to either of them was an undercover officer. Shortly after dropping the teenager off in front of the hotel, another police officer located the defendant outside the hotel waiting inside a vehicle.

Adderley allegedly had an open container of alcohol visible. Police arrested the defendant, and allegedly found more than 30 glassine packets of cocaine. The investigation was conducted by Detective Olahshina Williams, of the Vice Human Trafficking Team, under the supervision of Lieutenant Amy Capogna. Assistant District Attorney Kiran Cheema, of the District Attorney’s Human Trafficking Bureau, is prosecuting the case, with the assistance of Paralegals Roxana Comanescu and Marcela Sanchez, under the supervision of Assistant District Attorney Jessica Melton, Bureau Chief, and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Investigations Gerard A. Brave

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced today that Issam Elabbar, 31, has been indicted by a Queens County grand jury and arraigned on murder, manslaughter and other charges for allegedly firing a single shot in the early hours of September 30, 2020. The bullet ripped through a 3rd-floor apartment window striking a mother of three, killing her.

District Attorney Katz said, “Inside your home, you expect to be safe. You expect your loved ones to be safe from the violence and senseless mayhem that of late has plagued our neighborhood streets. But, last month an innocent woman became the victim of a senseless act of gun violence while in her own home. Sadly, the victim’s oldest son discovered his mother gasping for air and bleeding to death. This defendant, who evaded capture for several days, has been indicted and will answer for his alleged crimes.”

Elabbar, of 41st Avenue in Corona, was arraigned before Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise on a seven-count indictment charging him with murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, attempted petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and unlawful possession of pistol ammunition. Justice Aloise set the defendant’s return date for January 12, 2021.

If convicted, the defendant faces up to 25 years-to-life in prison. District Attorney Katz said, shortly before 1 a.m. on September 30th, the defendant and another man were on the sidewalk on 34th Avenue near 92nd Street allegedly attempting to steal a bicycle secured to a fixed object on the sidewalk. The victim, Bertha Arriaga, was near her bedroom window of the family’s apartment at the precise moment the defendant allegedly swung his right arm around the front of his body and fired over his left shoulder behind him. According to the charges, the wayward bullet ripped through the glass window and struck the 43-year old mother and wife in the neck. She fell to the floor with blood pouring from the gunshot wound and struggled to breathe. The victim’s 14-year-old son heard gurgling noises. He followed the sound and found his mother.

Despite the woman’s husband attempting CPR on Mrs. Arriaga, she died from the injury. The investigation was conducted by Detective Douglas Deotto, of the New York City Police Department’s 115th Precinct Detective Squad, under the supervision of Sergeant Brian McManus and Lieutenant Filastin Srour and Detective Joseph Bey, of the NYPD’s Queens North Homicide Squad, under the supervision of Sergeant Andre Rosa and Lieutenant Timothy Thomson. NEDFORD-STUYVESANT, NY – Queens District Melinda Katz announced today that Alex Elicier, 31, of Hart Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and other crimes.

The defendant admitted he got behind the wheel of a car after drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana in August 2018. The ensuing car crash caused by the defendant killed a 38-year-old Brooklyn man, his dogs and injured four other people. District Attorney Katz said, “A man is dead because the defendant chose to get high and drive. Getting behind the wheel of a car after smoking and drinking endangers everyone on the road. In this instance, a loved one is tragically gone, as well as the family’s beloved dogs. The defendant has admitted his guilt and the Court has now ordered him to prison for his criminal actions.” Elicier pleaded guilty on July 30, 2020 to aggravated vehicular homicide, assault in the second degree and two counts of overdriving, torturing or injuring an animal before Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise.

This morning, Justice Aloise sentenced Elicier to 6 to 15 years in prison. District Attorney Katz said the defendant was driving a Chevy northbound on the Van Wyck Expressway near Jewel Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. on August 18, 2018. The defendant weaved in and out of the early morning traffic and crossed multiple lanes. At more than 80 mph, Elicier crashed into the back of an Acura that was being driven by Jasmine Rodriguez, 27.

The woman was with her friend, Jairo Castano. His two dogs, Brooklyn and Honey, were in the back seat. According to the charges, the impact of the collision forced the Acura into the center guardrail and sent it airborne. The Acura landed upside down on the southbound side of the Van Wyck Expressway, where it was struck by another vehicle. Mr. Castano, 38, was crushed on impact and died at the scene. His two dogs were thrown from the car and were also killed.

Ms. Rodriguez survived the collision but sustained facial fractures, a broken arm and injuries to her torso. In all, seven vehicles were either struck with debris or crashed in an effort to avoid being hit, including a TSA K-9 Unit that was headed to Kennedy International Airport. Five people, including the defendant, were injured in the collision. DA Katz said the defendant was treated at a nearby hospital for head injuries. At that time, a Court-authorized search warrant was executed for the defendant’s blood.

Forty minutes after the crash, Elicier’s blood alcohol level was .16. The defendant also tested positive for the presence of THC, a compound of marijuana, in his blood stream. Surveillance video showed the defendant at a strip club earlier in the evening, drinking Hennessy and smoking marijuana, before he got behind the wheel of the Chevy. Senior Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Selkowe, of the District Attorney’s Homicide Bureau, prosecuted the case under the supervision of Assistant District Attorneys Brad A. Leventhal, Bureau Chief, Peter J. McCormack, Senior Deputy Bureau Chief, John W. Kosinski, Chief of the Vehicular Homicide Unit and Deputy Bureau Chief, and Kenneth A. Appelbaum, Deputy Bureau Chief, and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Major Crimes Daniel A. Saunders.

With just two days left before the 2020 election, social media giant Facebook is taking aggressive action against conservative and Republican groups and pages.  This week, “New Jersey Women for Donald J. Trump” was shut down.  The group had 28,000 members.  After filing complaints and having lawyers contact Facebook, the group was restored later in the day.  New Jersey conservative voice Joseph Rullo, who has nearly 500,000 followers also said his account was being targeted and Facebook was limiting the amount he could post on his page.  Several other New Jersey news media and public figure sites also reported aggressive throttling against their pages and groups in recent days.

Conservative groups for years have claimed Facebook has been targeting them, but the censorship sweep has been far more aggressive in the past 10 days.  We reached out to Facebook for an answer, but in 48 hours, we have received no reply.  Despite the aggressive lockdown this week, confirmed by nearly one dozen conservative page admins, an NBC report two days ago ran interference for Facebook.

“Facebook and Twitter don’t censor conservatives. They hire and promote them,” NBC wrote, as groups across the blue state of New Jersey were targeted.  “In fact, the examples that conservatives give of alleged censorship are usually just examples of individuals breaking the rules or not knowing how social media works.”

Last week, Facebook locked down the New York Post after reporting the findings on Hunter Biden’s laptop.  Both Twitter and Facebook censored and held a lock on the story until their own fact-checkers were able to determine the stories were true.

Three weeks ago, Facebook shut down “Trucker” Randy Bishop, host of “Your Defending Fathers” radio show, based out of Michigan.  That page remains shuttered.  Facebook shut Tucker down, claiming he supports “militarized social movements”.

Idaho legislator Chad Christensen also had his Facebook page shut down and confirmed in the past few days that dozens of other Idaho based conservative pages were targeted by the social media giant.

“I’m a legislator,” Christensen said. “I use Facebook a lot to talk to my constituents, and they talk to me that way. … It’s just a big part of my politics with them.”

The Garden State Parkway ground to a standstill on the express lanes to day after pro-Trump supporters shut down the highway in support of the President and to show support.  The leftwing liberal media of course flipped out of the protest and highway rally.  Thousands of cars flying Trump banners and flags flooded the Parkway on November 1st. The liberal left media however criticized the action after months of leftist BLM and Antifa protesters were hailed as freedom fighters for blocking roads.  The road was not fully blocked as 4 lanes on the local traffic side of the road remained clear.

UPDATE: New video shows State Trooper caused miles long backup by closing an exit on the Garden State Parkway.

New Jersey – -(AmmoLand.com)- “Gun violence” is a very serious topic that needs actual contemplation and thought. To be fair, calling gun violence – “gun violence” is not very accurate. Before we can even dive into the subject, we must label it appropriately.

For example, there are instances of “gang violence” or “gangland violence” – which would be violence committed by gangs or gang members. How about “domestic violence”? That would be violence committed by a domestic partner. Community violence? Violence committed by community members, specifically those not acquainted with another. Gun violence then must be violence committed by a gun? Case closed.

Gun violence is a misnomer. Violence that is committed with a gun is something that happens. But no gun is inherently violent.

A gun cannot commit anything, it is an inanimate object, a tool. If a gang member shoots another gang member or an innocent bystander for that matter, it is gang violence – not gun violence. If a man shoots his wife, is that domestic violence? Yes, not “gun violence.” The actor is never the gun.

These optics are very important, and intentional, as they paint a picture in all of our subconscious minds; the correlation that when someone hears the word gun, they immediately think “violence.”

The subject of violence in any form is complex. Never mind the specifics of violence committed with a firearm. Carol Bowne, a New Jersey woman who was stabbed to death by a former intimate partner, is no less dead today because she was murdered with a knife. Knife violence? The sad and telling story of Carol is that she was seeking to purchase a firearm and applied for her purchaser’s permit with her local police department in the town she lived in. She pleaded with the police, had a protective order against her aggressor, sought protective help from the police, and when no one helped her – decided she needed to be armed. By law in New Jersey, a town is supposed to issue such purchaser’s permits within 30 days. Carol was murdered 42 days after applying for the permit she was never issued.

She died alone, as a knife repeatedly pulled the life out of her, helpless, and disarmed.

I chronicled this tragic event in my March 28, 2018 article “Do you Know Carol Bowne? An Open Letter to the Assembly of New Jersey, et.al.” Why did I write that article (which I emailed the text of to every member of the Assembly and Senate in New Jersey back then)? Because on March 25, 2018, it was announced in an NJ.com article that the Assembly was scheduled to vote the following week on a package of anti-civil rights, aka “gun control”, bills. It should be obvious, I was and am against the bills that were voted on, subsequently were passed, and signed into law. Besides testifying at hearings, the only recourse citizens have in such situations are to write to and or call their legislators/executives to make their opinions known.

Unless you are one of the lucky ones to be invited to the many planning meetings held by legislators on these subjects…

Through documents AmmoLand obtained through Freedom of Information Request W163771 I learned there were 13 known “special” meetings from February 13, 2018 to March 13, 2020. These meetings varied in “title”, switching names from “Roundtables” to “Town Hall Meetings” to “Exciting Announcements”, so on and so forth (the full list of which I will include at the end of this article). What was special about some of these meetings? Eight of the 13 meetings specifically mention firearms. All of these meetings had notices communicated to members of anti-civil rights groups looking to strip citizens of their 2nd Amendment freedoms.

One such lucky correspondent was The Reverend Robert “Bob” Moore ([email protected]), from The Coalition For Peace Action (CFPA, peacecoalition.org) and Ceasefire New Jersey (www.peacecoalition.org/campaigns/68-ceasefire-nj/628-ceasefire-nj.html) . The first such recorded meeting was a roundtable on “gun violence.” Scheduled to be in attendance was NJ Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald. Both CFPA and Ceasefire New Jersey are groups against the individual’s right to keep and bear arms. Dolores Phillips, the Legislative Director of Ceasefire New Jersey was copied into Bob’s email to Hilary Beckett (Then an Aide to the Governor, Intergovernmental Affairs, [email protected]), when accepting his invitation to attend the February 13, 2018 meeting.

Who else was at that meeting? It is hard to tell specifically, but looking at the track record of Phil Murphy’s administration, we can assume that members of Moms Demand Action and Everytown could have been there, as they have received invites to and or advanced notice of similar discussions (see OPRA W160618 obtained email from Paul Crupi, [email protected], The Vice President of Public Affairs at the Capital Impact Group, the lobbyist firm used by Moms Demand Action/Everytown, to Justin Braz, Murphy’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative Affairs).

I can tell you who was not invited to this meeting…

I reached out to several civil-rights oriented organizations that safeguard the Second Amendment: The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners, The New Jersey Second Amendment Society, A representative of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, and The National Shooting Sports Foundation. I sent them the full list of dates and events*** as listed at the end of this article and asked them if they were invited to participate in any of these “discussions” that Governor Phil Murphy’s administration had concerning firearms, “gun violence”, gun safety, etc.

Scott Bach, the Executive Director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) had the following to say about my question concerning possible invites from Murphy:

“Neither ANJRPC nor its representatives have ever been invited to any firearms related event or announcement of the Murphy Administration, nor have we been informed in advance that they were occurring. These events have been styled as if they were inclusive, but in fact no representative of any Second Amendment organization have been included to our knowledge.”

The President of the Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners (CNJFO), Dan Grdovic, when asked, stated:

“CNJFO has never been invited to or has been asked for input on any roundtable, town hall meetings, pending legislation, or summits held by the Governor’s Office or anyone else in the Legislature with regard to Second Amendment or Gun Safety issues. Ironically, our mission statement states in part that ‘CNJFO was founded to advocate for lawful, safe and responsible firearms ownership in New Jersey.’ New Jersey’s gun laws are designed to only hamper lawful firearms ownership in New Jersey. The existing laws are not followed by violent criminals within the state, and the judicial scheme regularly drops any and all firearms related charges against the most violent criminals, while simultaneously pursuing lynching of otherwise law abiding citizens (See the following cases: Van GilderAllenTwyne). CNJFO would be proud to sit in on any such gathering and provide our members’ views to the Executive or Legislative Branches for their consideration.”

“It’s time for the Governor to acknowledge his ‘echo chamber’ past and invite his opponents to the table for meaningful discussion that includes opposition.”

New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) President, Alexander Rubian said;

“We were not invited to a single one of those events. You can bet we would be there.”

Mark Oliva, the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) Director of Public Affairs quipped back referencing many of the initiatives that NSSF champions such as Project ChildSafe® and Real Solutions®. Both programs advocate for the responsible and safe ownership and storage of firearms. Mark had these comments:

“NSSF was not invited by the governor to attend any of these meetings or roundtable events. Governor Murphy hasn’t reached out to the firearm industry to seek advice or offer opinions on what can be done to achieve true firearm safety. The governor instead has chosen to be openly hostile to the firearm industry, firearm retailers and gun owners. He’s taken every opportunity to deny the ability exercise Second Amendment rights, including unlawfully closing firearm retailers during a national emergency. He only reversed course when faced with court action… Other governors have sought to include the industry in these effective programs, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott. NSSF is willing to sit down at the table with anyone who is serious about achieving real solutions and preserving gun rights. Sadly, we have only seen Governor Murphy attack the industry, hunting and lawful gun ownership while ignoring those criminals who are responsible for committing crimes.”

Finally, I reached out to a representative of The National Rifle Association.

“Gov. Murphy has incredible disdain for law-abiding gun owners, and he campaigned on gun control in a state that has some of the harshest gun laws in the country,” said Darin Goens NRA-ILA State Director. He continued:

“Second Amendment supporters were never invited to participate in any of these events because they are not interested in a dialogue. The heavy-handed Governor and his minions simply recycled the same old failed gun control schemes in an echo chamber. They are not interested in ‘gun safety,’ they want gun bans, and they are not bashful about it.”

It’s a fact that the anti-rights, anti-freedom, “anti-gun” crowd receives preferential treatment (explored in“Evidence, Preferential Treatment The Anti-Freedom Lobby Receives From NJ Gov. Murphy”), and those that advocate for responsible & law-abiding gun owners, and Second Amendment civil-liberties get kicked to the curb.

Dolores Phillips is seen receiving a commemorative pen from NJ Governor Murphy used to strip New Jersey citizens of their rights. Dolores, I hope you cherish that pen, it has the blood of Carole Bowne and many other innocent people on it. www.peacecoalition.org/images/GVP_Signing_June_13_2018_5.jpg

At the June 13, 2018, anti-freedom bill signing event, bringing the bills discussed in the March 2018 announcement into law, Ceasefire New Jersey, Bob Moore, et.al. took every chance to pose with Governor Murphy for photo opportunities commemorating it. Dolores Phillips is seen receiving a commemorative pen from Murphy used to strip New Jersey citizens of their rights.

Dolores, I hope you cherish that pen, it has the blood of Carole Bowne and many other innocent people on it – asA-2758 was signed with it, a bill making the already impossible harder…for those needing protection, to get a carry permit.   Dolores, do you think Carole Bowne would still be alive today if she had a firearm with her the night she was violently stabbed to death in a tragic act of knife violence?.

The entire process of these bills becoming law was nicely recorded in a self-produced “Atta Boy” slideshow video that Ceasefire New Jersey has posted online. Take a look at the video as it walks us, the uninitiated, through the process they went through to strip New Jersey citizens of civil rights. They boast about their first meeting on December 20th (2017) occurring and how they “co-led a 12 person delegation of gun violence prevention leaders from across the state, with NJ State Senator Majority Leader Senator Loretta ‘Conficscate-Confiscate-Confiscate’ Weinberg…”

Where was ANJRPC? Where was the invite to CNJFO? How about NJ2AS – was your invitation lost in the mail? NRA? Notification MIA! NSSF did not get the MEMO. No one was invited to speak from the groups that are guardians of citizens’ rights.

Take note, in December 2017 the anti-gunners came to the New Jersey Government pushing to take away civil liberties, and by June 2018, all the proposals were signed into law. Six months.

Many in the legislative body of New Jersey have zero fondness towards citizens retaining, having, and or regaining any of their Second Amendment Rights. Phil Murphy openly expresses his contempt towards law-abiding gun owners, and freedom – illustrated further when he quipped the “Bill of Rights is above my pay grade”.

With Democrats in power, the system is stacked against average citizens, and there is a conspiracy of RICO proportions within the Murphy Administration, and even further within the New Jersey Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches dating back to the 60’s and 70’s. New Jersey’s ruling class, simply put, wants its citizens disarmed. If that is not abundantly clear based on the laws passed and the way law-abiding gun owners are treated or just flat out ignored. It is clear by the simple fact that we have zero representation, no invitations, and no advance notice to any of these important discussions regarding civil liberties – but gun-banner Reverend Bob Moore and his cronies do…

Enjoy your blood-soaked pen Dolores, after all the pen is mightier than the sword!

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP – On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at approximately 1:40 PM, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to the Surf and Stream Campground on County Route 571, for the report of a black male threatening people with a handgun. The caller reported that the suspect was observed assaulting a female inside a sports utility vehicle, before exiting and threatening multiple individuals who were attempting to come to her aid. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the scene.

A subsequent investigation conducted by members of the department’s Investigations Bureau and Narcotics Enforcement Team, led by Detective Adam Emmons, identified 31-year-old, Rameek Peace, as the possible suspect. Subsequent investigative efforts resulted in sufficient information to substantiate criminal charges against Peace for his involvement in the campground incident. In addition, court-authorized search warrants were granted for Peace’s residence located at 2525 Route 70 in Manchester, as well as a 2020 Chevy Malibu rental vehicle, which Peace had been observed operating numerous times.

On Friday, October 30, 2020, members of the department’s Investigations Bureau executed the search warrants on Peace’s residence and vehicle. While doing so, Peace was apprehended while driving the Chevy Malibu and arrested without incident. Located and subsequently seized from the vehicle was a silver and black, 40-caliber, Springfield XD handgun that was loaded with hollow point bullets. Also located inside the vehicle were 1000 wax folds of heroin with an approximate street value of $5,000.00, $2,020.00 in cash, and additional ammunition. The handgun found in Peace’s vehicle matched the description provided by multiple victims and witnesses.

As investigators entered Peace’s residence, they located two children, a 2-month-old and 2-year-old, who had been left unaccompanied and without any supervision. The children were found in a bed covered in dirty laundry. A subsequent search of the residence revealed a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The children were ultimately released to their mother, and the Department of Child Protection and Permanency was notified.
As result of the investigation, Peace was charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, Terroristic Threats, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Endangering the Welfare of Children, Money Laundering, Possession of Hollow Point Bullets, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Assisting in the investigation were members of the Manchester Township Police Department’s K-9 Unit and Patrol Bureau, as well as members of the Lakewood Police Department, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Residents are reminded that drug tips can be reported to the Manchester Police anonymously at 732-657-6111 or online via the Department’s website, www.manchesterpolicenj.com, by clicking the “Tip Line” link.

SYNDEY, AUS – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Canberra provided the Australian Border Force (ABF) with information that resulted in the seizure of 552 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated $248 million. The operation leading to the seizure began in September 2020 following information from HSI on a suspected shipment containing drugs destined for Australia.

HSI Canberra provided Australian authorities with details on the possibility of narcotics smuggled into Australia concealed as bananas from Brazil. The container was identified and inspected by the ABF on Sept. 21 and held for further investigation by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). ABF officers identified anomalies within the approximately 275 boxes in the shipment that contained banana pulp, and upon closer examination, ultimately discovered cocaine hidden within the banana pulp bags.

“This joint investigation demonstrates the importance of strong international partnerships when it comes to dismantling transnational criminal organizations,” said ICE Canberra Attaché Adam Parks. “By working together, we were able to swiftly gather crucial information on the smuggling of cocaine through a shipment of fruit to Australia. I commend HSI Brazil and our Australian partners their professionalism, devotion and unrelenting efforts on targeting organizations and individuals involved in these major transnational crimes.”

In the two weeks following the detection, HSI Canberra, the AFP, the ABF, and the New South Wales Police Force monitored the narcotics and conducted additional investigative steps in furtherance of the case. The joint investigation led to the execution of search warrants Oct. 16, when officers seized mobile phones, a laptop, a case of green stones suspected to be emeralds, and five one-kilogram silver ingots. The investigation also resulted in the arrest of a 68-year-old man from north Sydney.

The investigation leading to these enforcement actions was worked jointly between HSI, the AFP, and the ABF, with support from HSI Brasilia and the National Targeting Center – Investigations.

On Oct. 17, AFP also arrested a 43-year-old Carlingford woman for her alleged involvement in the importation of approximately 117 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in a shipment of latex gloves. The information leading to this arrest was developed in July 2020, when HSI special agents and Border Enforcement Security Task Force officers in Los Angeles inspected a shipping container of latex gloves and concrete besser blocks bound for Sydney. During the search, agents and officers identified 12 cardboard boxes with 47 individually wrapped clear plastic bags of a crystalline substance that was determined to be 117 kilograms of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was seized in the United States by HSI Los Angeles. The shipment continued its scheduled route to Sydney, where Australian authorities awaited its arrival, and subsequently launched the operation leading to the arrest. This was an HSI-led investigation with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and AFP.

The HSI International Operations Division is the Department of Homeland Security’s largest investigative presence overseas. Division personnel serve as liaisons to governments and law enforcement agencies across the globe and work side-by-side with foreign law enforcement on HSI investigations. HSI is the principal investigative arm of DHS and a vital U.S. asset in combatting transnational crime and threats.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – A former U.S. Army Specialist has pleaded guilty in a child exploitation case, after sneaking a Florida teen on base and taking more than 100 photos and films of her in the nude, said Charlie Peeler, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

Samuel Ray Robinson, 23, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, October 27, to one count of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity before U.S. District Judge Clay D. Land. Robinson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison and up to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a maximum fine of $250,000, and a maximum term of supervised release of life. Defendant will also be required to register as a sex offender. There is no parole in the federal system. His sentencing hearing is set for December 17, 2020.

According to the stipulation of fact entered in court, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command’s Fort Benning CID Office was contacted on June 14, by the Walton County, Florida Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) regarding a 13 year old female runaway (Victim 1), who left her Santa Rosa Beach, Florida residence on or about May 27. On June 2, Victim 1 contacted her mother via cellphone and provided her with a “pin” of her location at a Columbus motel. Local Columbus authorities were dispatched to the hotel, and Victim 1 was transported back to Florida.

A forensic examination of the phone revealed Victim 1’s phone “pinged” on Fort Benning between May 27 and June 2, and she had been communicating with Robinson. During an interview with agents, Robinson admitted he met Victim 1 online and picked her up at a gas station in Destin, Florida. Robinson also admitted he knew the victim was a minor when he picked her up, thinking her to be 15 years old. Robinson snuck Victim 1 onto Fort Benning, where she stayed for six nights, engaging in sexual intercourse. Victim 1 was also filmed and photographed in the nude by Robinson more than 100 times.

“Robinson targeted a vulnerable minor online, took her hours away from home, and kept her hidden, abusing her repeatedly. He will pay a steep penalty for his egregious crime—federal prison without parole,” said U.S. Attorney Charlie Peeler. “I want to thank Fort Benning CID, the Columbus authorities and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office for investigating this case and bringing the victim safely home.”

“Robinson’s behavior is not tolerated in the U.S. Army and hopefully this will be of some solace to his victim and prevent him from targeting other such vulnerable people,” said Special Agent-in-Charge Micah Rush. “I want to thank all of the investigative and legal efforts made by the Special Agents of the Fort Benning CID Office, our law enforcement partners and the U.S. Attorney’s office.”

The case was investigated by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command’s Fort Benning CID Office (CID) and Walton County, Florida Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) with assistance from the Columbus Police Department (CPD). Assistant U.S. Attorney Shanelle Booker is prosecuting the case for the Government. Questions can be directed to Pamela Lightsey, Public Information Officer, United States Attorney’s Office, at (478) 621-2603 or Melissa Hodges, Public Affairs Director (Cont
