TOMS RIVER-On Thursday, the New Jersey Senate passed an amendment that would continue to allow for a religious exemption for vaccinations. As the Senate voted on the amendment, hundreds chanted outside the chambers against a Democrat-sponsored bill that would strip the rights of individuals to opt-out of vaccinating their children. That vote happened without Ocean County Senators James Holzapfel and Christopher Connors representing New Jersey’s 9th and 10th legislative districts respectively.
The amendment ended up passing 18-15.
Connors skipped the controversial vote because his attendance was required at a municipal council reorganization in Lacey Township where his firm, Dasti, McGuckin, Murphy, Connors was appointed to a professional contract by the town council.
With most Republicans voting no and most Democrats voting yes to the amendment, Republicans needed every vote to stop the Democrat bill.
Republican Senators Robert Singer, Samuel Thompson, Anthony Bucco, Kip Bateman, Michael Doherty, Steven Oroho, Gerald Cardinale, Jose Pennacchio, and Michael Testa were among prominent Republicans who voted no to the amendment.
The approved amendment would authorize an exemption from mandatory immunization requirements for a child or student who has a sibling who experienced a vaccine injury. To qualify for the exemption, the child or student will be required to submit to the Department of Health documentation of a final determination of vaccine injury issued through the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration in the United States Department of Health and Human Services or a final judgment issued by a court of competent jurisdiction that includes a finding of vaccine injury. Documentation of the department’s approval of a sibling vaccine injury exemption will be submitted to the school or child care center by the child or student, or by the child or student’s parent or guardian if the child or student is a minor.
The amendments allow nonpublic child care centers, preschool programs, elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education to adopt a policy authorizing the admission of children and students who are not in full compliance with mandatory immunization requirements and who do not meet the requirements for a medical or sibling vaccine injury exemption, provided that the facility requires each child or student enrolled in the child care center, preschool program, school, or institution of higher education, or the child’s or student’s parent or guardian if the child or student is a minor, to sign an acknowledgment form, at the time of enrollment, that sets forth the facility’s policy with regard to admitting children or students who are not in full compliance with mandatory immunization requirements and indicates the immunization rates for the facility for the prior academic year.
In addition to approximately $1.5 million in prior public contracts, Connor’s firm has secured nearly a million dollars in new lucrative public contracts across Ocean County since January 1st as a result of their affiliation with Ocean County GOP Chairman Frank Holman. Holzapfel’s firm also receives over $1 million annually from public contracts.
NEWARK-New Jersey Senator Cory Booker has all but abandoned his post in the U.S. Senate in his neverending quest to run for President of the United States, or as some think, he’s marketing himself to be on a ticket for Vice President of the United States. Now, he’s accusing the Democrat Party of being racist.
Booker who failed to meet the party’s criteria for being on the stage in the next national debate said it wasn’t his lack of fundraising or less than 1% showing that resulted in his disqualification, but the color of his skin.
“The DNC’s debate thresholds have systematically paved the way for a billionaire to buy his way onto the stage while pushing out candidates of color from participating,” Booker said in a campaign fundraiser email. “We pride ourselves on being the party of inclusion, yet time and time again our candidates of color are cutting their campaigns short because they don’t have the financial resources to continue on.”
Republican candidate for Senator Hirsh Singh, who is challenging Booker said enough is enough with New Jersey’s no-show senator.
“It’s time to finish him off NJ. Booker BLAMES the DNC of racism because less than 3% of the American people are willing to endorse his radicalized political agenda,” Singh said.
The Democrat Party, which has long deemed the Republican Party as the party of out of touch rich white male millionaires has become a race between Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. Each of the party’s leading candidates are in their 70’s and have amassed million-dollar fortunes during their decades in public office.

TRENTON-Marijuana isn’t legalized yet in New Jersey, but Governor Phil Murphy must be smoking something. Murphy today criticized President Donald J. Trump and Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew for the poor job Trump has done with the American economy and tooting his own horn on a yet-to-be-realized $15 minimum wage increase slowly edging its way into the flailing New Jersey economy.
“With the impeachment process continuing to unfold in Washington and unrest in the Middle East, the last thing President Trump should be focused on is coming to New Jersey to campaign for Jeff Van Drew. Doing so speaks to President Trump’s misplaced priorities and refusal to put what’s best for the country ahead of his own politics,” Murphy said. ““While President Trump and the Republicans have been showering the wealthy with tax cuts and pinching the middle class by slashing the SALT tax deduction, Democrats are working to enhance quality of life for our middle class and working families. Working with the Legislature, we’ve ushered in paid family leave and equal pay protections, and just this week New Jersey’s minimum wage increased to $11/hour on its way to $15/hour. President Trump and the Republicans in Washington haven’t delivered any progress for the middle class, and New Jerseyans know that Jeff Van Drew now stands firmly with that failed record.”
Murphy did not mention in his accomplishments, New Jersey’s sanctuary state status, illegal drivers licenses and the revolving door of criminal justice reform in New jersey.
“New Jersey is a state that supports the middle class and those striving to join it. Those are values that President Trump does not share, and his newly-minted fellow Republican Jeff Van Drew will never act to hold him accountable. That’s why it’s so important for Democrats to retake this district in November,” Murphy said.

TOMS RIVER-Leftist, Socialist Democrat Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s third congressional district in Washington, D.C. is having a hard time these days trying to figure out which side of the issue he’s on when it comes to President Donald J. Trump’s decision to strike against Iranian General Qassim Solemeini.
Photo: Andy Kim with President Barack Obama and leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Kim, a former note-taker for U.S. General David Petreaus confirmed Solemeini’s role in the deaths of hundreds of U.S. troops during the Iraqi war, agreed the general should have been a target, but stopped short of approving the strike that killed him and other staff members last week…because, you know, Trump did it.
Before being elected to Congress, Kim worked in the Obama administration’s think tank on Iraqi military affairs. During his tenure in office, Obama oversaw at least 50 billion dollars in aid to Iran which Trump claims funded the attacks against Americans in Iraq. Obama later paid a $1.7 billion cash ransom to Iran in exchange for the release of American prisoners held in the country. During Obama’s eight-year war in Iraq, inaction led to the growth of ISIS, which later spread to the entire region before being defeated during Trump’s administration.
“Suleimani was a murderer who has the blood of Americans and our allies on his hands. There is no doubt about that. But there is also no doubt that these strikes significantly heighten the risk to Americans living in the region including our military and diplomatic presence,” Kim said initially after the strike that killed the general. “The potential for severe retaliation from Iran and Iranian-backed forces is very real, and decisions made during the coming hours and days will determine whether we see the threat of a greater regional war in the Middle East realized.”
We all know Andy Kim is a supersmart genius and an expert in military strategy and we know that he knows Iran does not want war with the U.S. After all, the country has been saber-rattling since the mid-1970’s and lacks the ability or the desire to confront America head-on.
But Kim added, “We need to ensure the safety of Americans in the region and to take every measure to avoid the outbreak of war.”
Kim is walking a fine line with Trump and Iran. On one hand, Kim is trying to appease his close ally, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat whack-pack. On the other, Kim realizes half of his district is Trump country and he can’t go full-boat socialist in public anymore.
So Kim later went slightly more on the Trump side of the issue.

Andy Kim claims he was a key high-level staffer in the Obama Whitehouse. Here he is with leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and President Obama. Photo courtesy of Obama Whitehouse.
“Qasem Suleimani had a vision for the Middle East without American forces where Iran was the undisputed power of the region. With the developments today of the Iraqi Parliament voting to expel U.S. troops from Iraq and the Iranian announcement of their full withdrawal of the diplomatic process to halt their nuclear weapons ambitions, Suleimani’s goals, not ours, are being realized,” Kim said. “We can still stop this slide. We cannot allow ISIS to regain their footing, as to do so would erase hard fought gains and put us at further risk. We cannot give up on diplomatic efforts to halt nuclear weapons as to do so would leave only nightmarish scenarios on the table.”
Realizing Trump’s action might actually work, and realizing he doesn’t want to be the bad Monday morning quarterback, Kim slipped further away from the Pelosi-Schumer narrative.
“We must take seriously any and all threats against Americans and not dismiss them as “a little noise.” These are bleak times, but there is still time to develop and execute a strategy that will give us the best chance to navigate through this crisis,” he added.
Then Iran launched a handful of missiles into vacant farmland and said, “Hey, we’ve had enough of this.”
Kim responded by pushing himself closer to the Trump line on the issue.
“The President’s remarks today give me hope that we have an opportunity to de-escalate this crisis with Iran. While this is an important step forward, we should be clear that these remain threatening times,” Kim said. “It does not alleviate the threat still posed by proxy groups and Shia militia groups who may seek revenge.”
Sounds good right? Well, Comrade Andy can’t control himself and had to get himself back under the Pelosi-Schumer umbrella before they realized he half-heartedly gave props to Trump.
“It does not remedy the very serious damage made to American interests and security in the Middle East over the past week. Our counter-ISIS effort has effectively ended, Iran has signaled its intentions for restarting its nuclear program, and we have further alienated key allies in Iraq,” he clamored. “Now is the time to begin reversing those losses by working with our allies in the region and building diplomatic channels that keep us from war.”
Not wanting to put himself in the Trump doghouse, Kim tapped his statement off by saying, “We need a long-term strategy for dealing with the threat Iran poses that keeps America safe; I stand ready to work with President Trump to find solutions and a path to a more secure and stable world.”
Kim also did not waste any time using Trump’s strike against Iran to patronize local veterans and service members in anticipation of this year’s election.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the brave men and women from our Joint Base serving in the Middle East,” Kim said. “My priority is always going to be ensuring their safety, and making sure that when we put them in harm’s way, we do so with a strategy and an end.”

Hackensack Meridian Southern Region Hospitals Receive N.J. Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Awards
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs at Hackensack Meridian Health southern region hospitals were recognized by the New Jersey Department of Health for their dedication to antimicrobial stewardship at the New Jersey Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative Annual Conference Thursday, December 5. The 2019 Gold Steward, the highest level an organization can achieve, was awarded to Ocean Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center. Jersey Shore University Medical Center was awarded Bronze Steward status. Less than 25 N.J. hospitals achieved recognition.
The hospitals’ antimicrobial teams promote the appropriate use of antimicrobials, chemical agents used to inhibit bacteria, to improve patient safety, reduce microbial resistance and decrease the spread of infections caused by multidrug resistant organisms. “We are proud of our work to establish leading edge Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs in the fight against antimicrobial resistance,” said Kenneth N. Sable, M.D., MBA, FACEP, regional president, southern market, Hackensack Meridian Health. “These recognitions demonstrate our dedication to provide high quality, safe care to our patients and paves the way for similar innovative programs that improve patient outcomes and experience.”
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Program acknowledges health care facilities and physician practices that demonstrate, through written documentation, they have met or exceeded minimum expectations for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Core Elements of Antimicrobial Stewardship. The N.J. Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Awards, launched this year, is a voluntary, incentive program that encourages health care facilities to assess how well they are applying the CDC’s core elements, a set of key principles to guide efforts to improve antibiotic use, advance patient safety and improve outcomes. Based on the level of difficulty of stewardship programs’ interventions, hospitals are awarded

The investigation, dubbed Operation On The Ropes uncovered a scheme to secretly convert legitimate candies, including the popular Nerds Rope and Sour Patch candy brands, to an illegal THC-infused product. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the substance that creates most of marijuana’s “high.” Operation On The Ropes culminated with the execution of over a dozen search warrants in Monmouth, Ocean, and Bergen counties resulting in the seizure of approximately 21,000 packages of candy infused with suspected THC, 1,100 lbs. of suspected marijuana, and over 6,000 flavored THC vape cartridges, all with an estimated street value of $1.9 million.
Along with others, Lee D’Avanzo, 52, of Staten Island, New York, was charged with fourth degree Conspiracy to Possess Marijuana, fourth degree Possession of Marijuana in Excess of 50 grams.
In December, police raided the home of Drita and Lee D’Avanzo and found guns and drugs which led to a court protection order for the couple’s 12 year old daughter.
Both were released on bail for their December arrests for drug and weapons charges. They were also charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child.

WILDWOOD-You may have just bragged on the internet that you have a ticket to President Donald J. Trump’s rally in Wildwood, but here’s news you might not like, but will thank us later for.
A ticket to the event doesn’t guarantee you entry. Approximately 50,000 “tickets” will be issued for the January 28th rally at the Wildwood Convention Center, but only the first 7,000 in line will be getting through the door.
Wildwood is already reporting an increase in hotel bookings, so consider the prospect that you may book a hotel and still not be able to attend the event.
In past rallies, people camped out to get to the front of the line, in some cases, the evening before just to get in. If you expect to swing by after work that day, don’t count on getting in, but being staged in the parking lot watching the rally from outside in the cold on the jumbo screen.
Trump’s rallies are a solid way for the campaign to build their voter database. The event is being hosted to boost Trump’s support in the blue state of New Jersey, but also to support Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who recently flipped from the Democrat party to the Republican Party, garnering Trump’s full endorsement.
So just remember, before you go down, make sure you are alright with getting left out in the cold and your ticket does not guarantee you admission.
Most Trump rallies are broadcast live on Fox News.

A terrific chapter in the storied history of the Louisville-Kentucky rivalry closed with a much-needed victory for the 19th-ranked Wildcats on Saturday. Kentucky (9-3) earned its second notable win of the season by outlasting Louisville in a muscle-clenching 78-70 win over No. 3 Louisville (11-2). The game was so much closer than the final score indicates. This was just the second OT game in the history of the series.
