Fire marshal says ignitable liquid was used to intentionally burn vehicle in early morning incident

Aberdeen, MD — A vehicle was intentionally set on fire in Harford County, prompting an arson investigation as authorities search for a suspect captured on camera, officials said.

The fire occurred around 3:45 a.m. on April 13, 2026, in front of 1410 Perrywood Drive in Aberdeen, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators rule fire intentional

Officials said the fire involved a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and originated on the exterior of the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire was incendiary in nature, with a person allegedly pouring an ignitable liquid over the car before setting it on fire.

The blaze caused an estimated $10,000 in damage but was brought under control in about five minutes by the Aberdeen Fire Department.

No injuries reported

Authorities said no injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.

The fire was discovered by a passerby or a resident of a nearby apartment building, prompting the emergency response.
