Randy Bergmann was the editor for the daily editorial and oped pages of the Asbury Park Press and all Gannett-owned New Jersey newspapers. Prior to joining the Asbury Park Press in 2002, he was a national editor for The Associated Press in New York City. A native of Westfield, N.J., Bergmann has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Rider University and a master’s degree, also in journalism, from Ohio University. He also has done graduate work at New York University. He previously served as editor of the New Jersey Herald, a daily serving Sussex County, N.J., and managing editor of The Princeton (N.J.) Packet. During his spare time, he likes to read, listen to rock music (and attempt to play it on the guitar), and attend Rider and Princeton University basketball games. He has traveled to more than 50 countries. He and his wife Alice have a 16-year-old son, Charlie, and 13-year-old twins, Will and Elyse. They live in Jackson.
