BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore resident and retired truck driver turned a simple mistake into a $32,000 windfall when he decided to keep a Keno ticket that he initially questioned due to its high cost. The incident occurred at the North Point Liquor & Bar in Baltimore.

While enjoying a night out with friends, the avid Keno player opted to add a Bonus multiplier to his usual 10-spot ticket for 10 games, which unexpectedly increased the ticket’s price to $40. Despite the surprise, he chose to keep the ticket, adhering to his personal rule of never discarding tickets he considers to be mistakes. “I always keep my mistake tickets,” he explained, fearing that discarded numbers might win.

His apprehension proved fortuitous as, during the fourth game, he watched in disbelief as nine out of his ten numbers were drawn. Upon scanning the ticket, the display read $32,000, prompting him to double-check in astonishment. Realizing the magnitude of his win, he discreetly secured the ticket in his wallet and later stored it safely at home until he could claim his prize at Lottery headquarters.

The lucky winner plans to deposit his newfound fortune into the bank for safekeeping. Additionally, North Point Liquor & Bar, the venue where he purchased the winning ticket, will receive a $320 bonus from the Maryland Lottery, equal to 1% of the prize, for selling a winning ticket worth $10,000 or more.
