BENSALEM, PA – Residents are being asked to join a growing digital neighborhood watch by registering their home security cameras with the Bensalem Police Department.
More than 400 residents have already signed up for the program designed to create an interactive map of privately owned cameras across the township.
The system allows police to quickly identify who may have captured valuable footage when an incident occurs nearby.
Through the secure registration portal at CONNECTBENSALEM.ORG, residents can list the locations of their cameras and provide contact details for investigators. If a crime happens in their area, police will reach out by email and request relevant video. Participation is voluntary, and homeowners retain full control over whether to share footage.
Officials say the initiative improves the efficiency of evidence collection and strengthens cooperation between officers and the community. The registry does not give police access to live video feeds, only the ability to know where cameras exist and who owns them.
The department describes the effort as a step toward a safer, more connected Bensalem—one camera at a time.
