BETHESDA, MD — A Montgomery County man has claimed a substantial $250,000 prize after playing five Pick 5 tickets in the Maryland Lottery’s May 16 midday drawing. Opting for the same number, 73195, across all tickets, the Bethesda local secured two $1 straight bets for each ticket in both the midday and evening drawings.
The fortunate tickets were purchased at the Giant grocery store on 7149 Arlington Road, Bethesda. Whether acquiring multiple tickets was a fortunate error or a strategic move remains undisclosed by the winner.
This win ranks among the top Pick 5 payouts this year, following a $300,000 win by a Hyattsville man and matched by a $250,000 prize from a Manchester resident. Notably, the largest Pick 5 wins on record since the game’s 2022 inception are $1 million, $750,000, and $550,000.
For contributing to the lucky win, the Giant store will receive a $500 bonus for each winning ticket sold, totaling $2,500.
