Big-hearted pit bull Frankie flops his way into the spotlight at Jackson shelter
Jackson, NJ – A 3-year-old tricolor pit bull named Frankie has officially made his debut on the adoption floor at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, and staff say he’s stealing hearts just as fast as he’s flopping over in the play yard.
With his eye-catching markings, big personality, and growing love for squeaky toys, Frankie has quickly become a favorite among volunteers at the shelter’s Jackson location. The playful pup is known for his goofy antics — often seen rolling on his back, kicking his legs in the air, and wiggling in pure joy.
Frankie is described as large, lovable, and still learning. Though calm in his kennel, he’s strong on the leash and would do best with an experienced handler who can continue working on his leash manners, particularly around other dogs. Shelter staff say he responds well to structure and would thrive in a calm, consistent home environment.
The shelter has made it clear that Frankie needs to be the only pet in the home — no dogs or cats — and due to his size and strength, a home without young children is recommended.

He’s neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, making him ready to meet potential adopters during the shelter’s daily visiting hours from 1 to 4 p.m. at 615 Freemont Ave.

Frankie’s arrival comes as local shelters across New Jersey continue to experience overcrowding, with longer stays becoming the norm for many adult dogs. Volunteers hope his personality and playful charm will help him stand out and find the right match soon.
Frankie remains available for meet-and-greets daily and is one of several dogs currently awaiting forever homes at the Jackson facility.
