A foot pursuit inside a Jamaica Plain apartment building ended with a loaded ghost gun recovered and three individuals taken into custody Friday night, according to Boston police.

BOSTON, MA – Around 9:00 p.m. Friday, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a reported large party near 5 Metcalf Court, where officers encountered a group of about eight individuals gathered outside. As officers approached, a juvenile male stood up and quickly walked away before breaking into a sprint, prompting officers to pursue.

A second individual fled alongside him, with officers noting that one of the individuals appeared to be clutching the left side of his jacket while running. Both entered an open doorway at 5 Metcalf Court and rushed up a stairwell, attempting to close an apartment door behind them before officers intervened.

Foot pursuit leads to firearm recovery

Officers detained both individuals inside the building and conducted a pat frisk, recovering a firearm from one suspect’s jacket pocket. Police later identified the weapon as a ghost gun equipped with a large-capacity extended magazine loaded with ten rounds.

“Officers observed the male break into a full sprint,” police said. “One of the individuals was seen clutching the left side of his jacket while running.”

While officers attempted to place the armed suspect in handcuffs, the situation escalated when the second individual interfered with the arrest. Police said the individual refused commands and struck an officer, triggering a broader confrontation.

Additional arrests after struggle with officers

As tensions rose, a third individual attempted to assault officers, prompting additional units from District E-13 and Boston Housing Police to respond. The scene was brought under control shortly after, and three suspects were taken into custody.

“The situation escalated as the group became combative,” police said. “A third individual attempted to assault officers.”

The 16-year-old juvenile male is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

The two additional suspects will be summonsed to court on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
