Bronx robbery turns violent as attackers beat man and steal backpack with phones
BRONX, NY — Police are searching for two robbery suspects accused of brutally attacking a man in broad daylight before stealing his backpack containing two cellphones near a busy Bronx intersection.
The robbery happened Saturday, April 25, around 9 a.m. near East 170th Street and Jerome Avenue, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers.
Investigators said the 36-year-old victim was approached by two unidentified suspects before the encounter quickly turned violent.
Police said the attackers punched and kicked the victim repeatedly in the face and body during the robbery.1
The suspects then forcibly stole the victim’s backpack, which contained two Samsung cellphones, before fleeing on foot.
Authorities have not released descriptions of the suspects as detectives continue investigating the attack.
The victim’s condition has not been publicly released.
