Brooklyn Teacher Admits to Sick Scheme Targeting Teens at Elite Schools

A former Brooklyn math teacher has copped to a twisted plot that preyed on teenage students at some of the borough’s ritziest private schools. Winston Nguyen, 38, pleaded guilty Monday to coaxing kids as young as 13 into sending him sexual images and videos—and now he’s looking at seven years in the slammer.

Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez announced the plea, calling out Nguyen for his “disturbing and predatory” behavior. The ex-educator, who once taught at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights, admitted to posing as a fellow teen on Snapchat to trick his victims into sharing nude pics and engaging in graphic chats. In exchange for his guilty plea to charges including use of a child in a sexual performance and endangering the welfare of kids, Nguyen will also have to register as a sex offender and face 10 years of supervision after his prison stint.

“This guy exploited his position as a trusted figure, and that makes it even worse,” Gonzalez said. “We’re holding him accountable while sparing these young victims from reliving their trauma in court.” He gave a shoutout to the detectives and prosecutors who cracked the creepy case.

Investigators say Nguyen, a Harlem resident, targeted six teens from elite Brooklyn schools between October 2022 and May 2024.

Using Snapchat handles like “hunterkristoff” and “haircutbongos,” he pretended to be a teenage boy, sending explicit videos of a kid masturbating and worming his way into raunchy conversations. Then, he’d push the victims—aged 13 to 15—to send back their own X-rated snaps.

Cops tied the shady Snapchat accounts to Nguyen’s Harlem home through IP addresses, backed up by digital evidence and victim statements. The disgraced teacher’s sentencing is set for March 17.
